摘要: MAC (Media Access Control) for an EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network system) defined in an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.3ah EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile) standard is implemented using general MAC based on an IEEE 802.3 standard. LLID (Logical Link ID) information is inserted at a predetermined position of a frame outside its preamble and the frame containing the LLID information is transferred to a higher layer so that general MAC can be used as MAC for the EPON system. A physical layer of the EPON system contains LLID information within a preamble and transfers the preamble containing the LLID information. An RS (Reconciliation Sublayer) configures a new Ethernet frame by inserting the LLID information at a predetermined position of the Ethernet frame outside the preamble. The RS transfers the new Ethernet frame to a higher data link layer of the EPON system. The data link layer transfers the new Ethernet frame containing the LLID information.

摘要: A logging method of reducing a log size by using a log entry when a log record is generated by an update, and an apparatus therefore, is provided. The method includes storing log information of a data page being updated; when the update of the data page is completed, reading the stored log information; generating a log record by using the read log information; and writing the generated log record in a log page. According to the method, the log size due to logging is reduced and the times of disk input and/or output operations decrease, thereby improving the updating speed of a database system.

摘要: Provided is an apparatus and method for performing a vertical handover in a multi-network wireless communication system. In a method for a vertical handover of a user terminal in a wireless communication system, a vertical handover control module selects a target network for a vertical handover using information about neighboring networks obtained from an information service server through an adaptation module. If the target network is different from a serving network, the vertical handover control module requests collection of target network information to a target network interface communicating with the target network through the adaptation module. The target network interface transmits the target network information collected in response to the information collection request to the vertical handover control module. The vertical handover control module determines a target base station using the collected target network information.

摘要: A method of authenticating a channel authorization using a NAD (Network Access Device) in a combined broadcasting and communication system is provided. The method can process an authorization of a user independently from an AAA (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) server. The system includes a plurality of STBs (Set Top Boxes) for receiving a broadcasting, an OLT (Optical Line Terminal)/ONU (Optical Network Unit) for transferring a broadcasting stream to the STBs, and the AAA server for a channel authentication. In operation, the NAD determines whether to switch the broadcasting stream to the STBs in the ONU, and the NAD is initialized by receiving and storing authentication information of the channel authorization from the AAA server when booting the NAD. Next, the NAD performs an authentication using the stored authentication information of the channel authorization in accordance with a channel request from the STB and then switches the requested channel when approved. The authentication information is updated and stored in accordance with an update signal of the authentication information of the channel authorization from the AAA server.

摘要: A method and apparatus for drawing an optical fiber from an optical fiber preform is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: measuring an outer diameter of the optical fiber as being drawn from the preform and cooling the optical fiber; coating a sheath layer on the peripheral surface of the cooled optical layer; and curing the optical fiber coated with the sheath layer under a nitrogen atmosphere. The quantity of nitrogen charged into the nitrogen atmosphere may be controlled in such a manner that the sheath layer coated optical fiber has a strip force of not less than 1N.
