    摘要: The method according to the invention relates in general to transmission in cellular telecommunication systems and in particular to optimization of the data transfer mode. In the method according to the invention the data transfer mode is controlled using the downlink quality measured by the mobile station (MS) and the uplink quality measured by the base station (BTS). For transparent connections it can be determined a desired maximum threshold for the RXQUAL value, and when the uplink or downlink RXQUAL exceeds that maximum threshold (ie. the bit error rate BER exceeds the maximum value), a more error-tolerant channel coding of a lower transmission speed is taken into use and the channel resources available are increased e.g. by growing the number of time slots to keep the user data transmission rate constant.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for transmitting packet data in a cellular system. The number of time slots in a TDMA frame dedicated for packet transmission varies according to transmission needs and each logical channel consisting of corresponding time slots in consecutive TDMA frames is independent of the other logical channels. A data packet is encoded in an information channel frame consisting of N-1 information bursts, and between the frames there can be an acknowledge/retransmission request burst (ARQ) reporting that a received frame was error-free or requesting retransmission. Thus, the information channel consists of repeated sequences of N bursts. Also disclosed are the structure of a packet paging burst (PP), packet random access burst (PRA), packet access grant burst (PAG), acknowledge/retransmission request burst (ARQ) as well as the use of the bursts in starting and maintaining the transmission.

In order to allow for an improved performance of SACCH and FACCH, a first and a second signalling message with identical content are transmitted in two separate associated control channels.     摘要: Techniques are presented for repetition on both uplink and downlink Slow Associated Control Channel (SACCH) channels. For instance, an exemplary method is disclosed that is performed by a mobile node. The method includes receiving from a network node a first block of data over a downlink SACCH channel, and storing the first block of data. The method also includes, subsequent to receiving the first block of data, receiving from the network node a second block of data over the downlink SACCH channel. The method further includes attempting to decode the second block of data. The method additionally includes, in response to a failure in the attempt to decode the second block of data, combining into a combination the second block with the stored first block of data. The method also includes attempting to decode the combination.
