    Abstract: An oscillator system is provided which produces a single mode output from a multimode seed beam and a multimode optical power source. The seed source employed in the oscillator system produces a multimode seed beam that is used to injection seed a multimode optical power source. The optical power source has a short cavity such that the longitudinal modes of the multimode optical power source are sufficiently spaced apart that a mode of the optical power source can be positioned relative to the multimode seed beam such that the beam does not significantly overlap with neighboring longitudinal modes of the optical power source. By positioning a single longitudinal mode to overlap with the seed beam a high energy single longitudinal mode output is produced. The oscillator system preferably includes an output controller loop which serves to center the longitudinal mode output of the optical power source relative to the center of the seed beam. The oscillator system also preferably includes a tuner controller which enables the oscillator system to scan over a series of wavelengths.

    Abstract: An automatic chemical analyzer utilizes reagents supplied in reagent bottles. The reagent bottles are labeled on their bottom surfaces with an identification label bearing a machine-readable identification code. The automatic chemical analyzer includes a reagent tray having a plurality of tray apertures therein which receive coded reagent bottles and which expose the bottom surface of each bottle for optical viewing of the machine-readable identification code. The analyzer further includes optical scanner means positioned below the reagent tray for reading the machine-readable identification code on the bottom surfaces of reagent bottles within the tray apertures. The tray apertures are selectively located over the optical scanner means so that the analyzer can identify the reagent bottle and the contents thereof.The identification label has a spaced pair of position reference dots defining and orienting a label area. A plurality of bit fields surround the position reference dots, their positions being defined by the position reference dots. Each bit field maps to a single bit of a multi-bit binary bottle identification code. Bit dots are printed in selected bit fields to define the binary value of each bit of the multi-bit binary identification code.

    Abstract: A beam steering system for a free-space laser communication system in a satellite includes a laser that emits a laser beam, a liquid lens assembly with at least one liquid lens to change the direction of the laser beam, and an amplifying optic to amplify the change in direction of the laser beam. The beam steering system may be used to steer a laser beam transmitted to another satellite or received from another satellite. In one example, a satellite may include two beam steering systems, disposed at opposing ends of a frame, where each steering system is configured to cover a hemisphere such that together, the steering systems can transmit and/or receive a laser beam over a 4π steradian sphere. The beam steering system may include a transmit feedback system and a reception system to monitor the direction and signal of the transmitted beam and the received beam, respectively.

The media stream is sent through a network to a desired destination. The tag processor comprises at least one of a tag inserter module and a tag module.
