Abstract: Certain aspects relate to systems and usage techniques for modular lateral flow assay reader devices that can receive a number of different modules having a barcode scanning input device and optional network connectivity capabilities. A barcode scanning module can provide a simple input method that reduces errors compared to manual data entry. A network connectivity module can enable transmission of test results over a public network for standardizing, tracking and electronically connecting test results from assay reader devices located throughout a network. Such devices can programmatically implement a simplified workflow whereby pressing a single button readies the device for imaging, analyzing, and data storage/transmission and, in some implementations, configures the device to operate in one of a plurality of device operation modes.

Abstract: A method of reducing quality problems associated with patient sample collection and delivery is provided. It is possible that the method can provide a chain of custody process to better track a sample from the initial point of sample collection to the final point of sample testing. Such a method can also include providing an alert to indicate a potential problem with the quality of the diagnostic test result when a measured parameter exceeds a threshold.

Abstract: Methods and systems for tracking use of sensor probes in a biomanufacturing environment. A typical sensor probe includes an elongated cylindrical body that may include a hollow inner cavity exposed at the bottom end of the elongated cylindrical body along with a probe ID. A method may include affixing this trackable ID to one or more sensor probes such that the trackable ID may be associated with a dedicated probe sensor data set stored in a cloud data store. Further, initial meta data may be assigned to the probe's the respective could data set that includes additional initial details about the associated sensor probe, such as make and manufacture of the probe, operating parameters of the probe, unique ID number, and/or expected lifespan statistics (number of uses expected, number of calibrations expected, number or autoclaves expected, and the like).

Abstract: A receptacle delivery system for an instrument includes a carriage, a puck supported by the carriage, and a first shelf. The carriage is configured to move from a first location of the instrument to a second location of the instrument. The puck is configured to removably support a receptacle such that a longitudinal axis of the receptacle is substantially coincident with a vertical axis of the puck. The first shelf is positioned at the second location of the instrument and comprises (a) a base extending substantially transverse to the vertical axis of the puck and (b) a first opening defined by the base. When the carriage is positioned at the second location, the longitudinal axis of a receptacle seated in the puck extends through the first opening.

Abstract: A puck for removably supporting a receptacle. The puck includes a plurality of fingers arranged about a vertical axis, where each finger has a contact surface configured to be in contact with a receptacle seated in the puck. One or more springs couple the plurality of fingers, thereby biasing the fingers toward the vertical axis. The puck further includes a supporting disc having (i) a disc sidewall projecting from a base to define a pocket for seating a receptacle, (ii) a plurality of first cavities formed in the base and extending in a direction of the vertical axis, and (iii) a puck passageway extending through opposed portions of the disc sidewall in a direction transverse to and offset from the vertical axis, where each of the fingers is rotatably coupled to the supporting disc at a corresponding first cavity of the plurality of first cavities. A synchronization disc is positioned in the pocket of the supporting disc, where each of the fingers is coupled to the synchronization disc such that the contact surfaces of the fingers move toward and away from the vertical axis in a synchronous manner. The puck additionally includes a retaining ring coupling the plurality of fingers, the supporting disc, and the synchronization disc together.

Abstract: Method and associated system for reading machine-readable labels on a plurality of sample receptacles held by a sample rack. In the method, a machine-readable label associated each of the plurality of sample receptacles is read with a first label reader when the rack is at a first location. The sample rack is then moved from the first location to a second location, where a rack identifier on the sample rack is sensed with a sensor separate from the first label reader. Finally, the rack identifier is associated with the machine-readable labels of the plurality of sample receptacles.
