Abstract:
A base station assigns a first set of device-to-device (D2D) communication resources to a first D2D group and assigns a second set of D2D communication resources to a second D2D group. The D2D communication resources of the first set are different from the D2D communication resources of the second set. The first set of D2D communication resources and the second set of D2D communication resources are subsets of reserved D2D communication resources which are a subset of defined uplink communication resources defined by a communication specification for uplink communication between the D2D UE devices and a base station where the reserved D2D communication resources not used for uplink transmission to the base station.
Abstract:
In a communication system that includes at least a first base station having a first geographical service area and second base station having a second geographical service area that overlaps at least partially with the first geographical service area, a relaying mobile wireless communication device receiving service from the second base station receives and forwards scheduling information to the second base station, where the scheduling information is transmitted by the first base station and identifies communication resources that will be used for wireless communication by the first base station. Based at least on the scheduling information, the second base station schedules communication resources to mobile wireless communication devices receiving service from the second base station such that interference is reduced, minimized, or eliminated.
Abstract:
An in-coverage (InC) relay user equipment (Relay-UE) device selects a resource allocation from a communication resource pool or receives the selected resource allocation from an eNB, and then transmits the selected resource allocation to one or more out-of-coverage (OoC) UE devices. The resource allocation is for a device-to-device (D2D) communication link between the InC Relay-UE device and the OoC UE devices. After receiving the resource allocation, an OoC UE device may relay data to a base station (eNB) by way of the InC Relay-UE, using the allocated transmission resources.
Abstract:
An eNB transmits a preamble signal including synchronization information before transmitting data in an unlicensed band where the synchronization information is in accordance with a licensed frequency band communication standard used in a primary cell (Pcell) provided by the eNB. The preamble signal is transmitted in accordance with a timing structure used in the Pcell using the licensed frequency band. The eNB provides a secondary cell (Scell) that has a service area that at least partially overlaps with a service area of the Pcell. The preamble signal provides synchronization information to a user equipment (UE) device for the Scell.
Abstract:
A transmitting user equipment (UE) device selects between a cellular communication link and a device-to-device (D2D) communication link for transmission for data from the transmitting UE device to a receiving UE device. Based on cellular channel characteristic information and D2D channel characteristic information, the UE device selects between the cellular communication link and the D2D communication link. The cellular channel characteristic information is indicative of at least a portion of a cellular communication link through a base station (eNB) and the D2D channel characteristic information is indicative of the D2D communication link between the transmitting UE device and the receiving UE device.
Abstract:
A base station (eNB) determines device-to-device (D2D) transmission parameters for signal transmission over a D2D communication link between a first user equipment (UE) device and a second UE device. The eNB instructs the first UE device to transmit a reference signal that is received by the second UE device. The second UE device reports D2D channel characteristic information indicative of the received reference signal. Based on the D2D channel characteristic information, the base station determines the D2D transmission parameters and provides the parameters to the first UE device.
Abstract:
A first wireless communication device transmits a reference signal at a series of transmission times to transmit a plurality of reference signals over time. The first wireless communication device receives a communication signal from a second device. In response to determining at the first device that an acknowledgment response should be sent to the second device in response to the communication signal, the first wireless communication device applies a code to the reference signal for at least one of the transmission times of the series of transmission times. The resulting coded reference signal indicates an acknowledgment response to the second wireless communication device.
Abstract:
A base station is used for a mobile communication system that supports a dual connectivity. The base station includes a controller configured to establish an RRC connection with a user terminal, and to perform a mobility control in the dual connectivity.
Abstract:
A first wireless communication user equipment (UE) device transmits a device-to device (D2D) Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) to a second wireless communication (UE) device using microcell communication resources. The second wireless communication (UE) device evaluates the SRS to discover the first wireless communication (UE) device, estimate channel conditions, and/or determine Channel State Information. Information indicative of the CSI is reported to a base station. Based on the reported channel conditions, (D2D) communication resources are scheduled by assigning microcell communication resources to the wireless communication (UE) devices.
Abstract:
Macrocell communication resources are assigned for device-to-device (D2D) communication between two wireless communication user equipment (UE) devices. A scheduler in a communication system schedules (assigns) scheduled downlink communication resources for downlink transmission of signals from a base station, schedules (assigns) scheduled uplink communication resources for uplink communication from wireless communication (UE) devices to base stations, and schedules (assigns) (D2D) communication resources for (D2D) communication between wireless communication (UE) devices. The (D2D) communication resources are selected from either defined downlink communication resources or defined uplink communication resources that are defined by communication specification. The base station sends communication resource allocation (CRA) information to at least one of the wireless communication (UE) devices where the communication resource allocation information identifies the (D2D) communication resources for use by the wireless communication (UE) devices to communicate through a device-to-device (D2D) communication link.
