Abstract:
Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, mobile station or user equipment receives pilot signals from two or more infrastructure nodes in a distributed antenna system, and calculates phase or timing information, or combinations thereof, from the pilot signals. The mobile station feeds back the phase or timing information, or combinations thereof, to the infrastructure nodes, and then receives one or more subsequent transmissions from the infrastructure nodes with phase shift or timing adjustments, or combinations thereof, calculated by the infrastructure nodes and applied to the spatial streams transmitted by the infrastructure nodes.
Abstract:
A system and method for configuring component carriers in carrier aggregation is disclosed. The method comprises communicating a carrier aggregation capability for a selected UE to an enhanced Node B (eNode B) configured to provide service for a plurality of UEs. A plurality of component carriers at the eNode B can be configured for the selected UE based on the carrier aggregation capability of the selected UE. A component carrier configuration message is broadcast from the eNode B containing component carrier configuration information that is common to the plurality of UEs. Specific configuration information that is specific to the selected UE is communicated using dedicated communication signaling. Selected configured component carriers are then activated by the eNode B for the selected UE. Activation can be based on the UE's quality of service needs, bandwidth needs, and strength of signal for the component carriers.
Abstract:
Multicarrier techniques for wireless communications system are described. An apparatus may comprise a carrier management module to define a primary carrier for use by a multicarrier communications system to communicate control information, and a secondary carrier for use by the multicarrier communications system to communicate media information, with the secondary carrier having a communication parameter and technology that is potentially different from the primary carrier. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a system and methods for identification of base station types are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract:
A method, system, apparatus and article are described for managing enhanced multicast broadcast services. In some embodiments, for example, a first connection may be established using a first wireless communication protocol, scheduling information for one or more multicast or broadcast data services may be received using the first wireless communication protocol, one or more of the multicast or broadcast data services may be selected, and a second connection using a second wireless communication protocol may be established to receive the one or more selected multicast or broadcast data services. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for notifying mobile stations in an inactive state of the presence of uplink or downlink channel configuration, broadcast system updates, traffic channel allocations and paging messages are provided. The notification can be provided in an information element in the same channel as the frame, or in a different channel. The information element identifies a subsequent frame which includes broadcast or configuration changes. The notifications for traffic channel allocations can include a first field, which identifies whether there are any traffic channel allocations for any sleep mode mobile station, and a second field for identifying the particular sleep mode mobile stations which are to receive traffic channel allocations. Notifications for paging messages can include a field, which identifies whether there are any paging messages for any idle mode mobile stations, and use second field to identify the particular idle mode mobile stations, which are to receive the paging messages.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for allocating traffic and associated control channels are provided. A downlink traffic control message can include an identification of a downlink traffic channel and an identification of an associated uplink control channel. An uplink traffic control message can include an identification of an uplink traffic channel and an identification of an associated downlink control channel in a frame subsequent to the frame of the uplink traffic channel. The associated control channels can be a feedback channel, which can provide power control information, retransmission request information, channel quality indication information and/or the like.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention provides an a method, comprising determining the position of a mobile station in a wireless network by transmitting a single or multi tone location beacon by the base station on a downlink or mobile station on an uplink with focused power on at least one tone.
Abstract:
Wireless network methods and apparatuses that may determine and provide, in real-time, the geographical locations of mobile stations of the wireless network are described herein. In one implementation, in order to determine the location of a mobile station (MS), the MS may obtain from a navigation service a decryption key to decrypt encrypted location information of multiple base station's (BS's) in its local area. The encrypted location information of the BS may then be decrypted and based at least in part on the recovered location information of the BS, determine the location of the MS. In another implementation, in order to determine and provide the location of an MS of a wireless network, a combination of location agents, location controller, and a location server may be employed to determine and provide the current location of the MS to requesting authorized clients.
Abstract:
A system and method for multiplexing subchannels in an OFDMA network is provided. The subchannels can be multiplexed by splitting the subchannels in the frequency domain. Alternatively, the subchannels can be code division multiplexed using N orthogonal spreading codes. The subchannel multiplexing increases system capacity for low-rate services, such as voice-based services.
