    摘要: Methods for evaporating (e.g., subliming) a material in the solid state. In one aspect, a mass of the material in the solid state is mixed with a plurality of packing units, wherein each of the packing units comprises an inert material. The structure of each of the packing units, or the structure of an aggregate of the packing units, comprises a plurality of non-smooth features. In one example, Pro-Pak™ metal meshes can be used, which have a plurality of various types of non-smooth features, including sharp edges, corners, and/or protrusions. These non-smooth features are believed to physically disrupt crust formation during the evaporation process. Also disclosed are other methods for evaporating a material and methods for fabricating an organic thin-film device.

    摘要: Novel compounds, and in particular, novel molecules having twisted aryl groups are provided. In particular, the compounds include an aryl group at the ortho position relative to an amine nitrogen, thereby causing a twist within the compound from the plane of the aryl group due to the steric effect. As a result, this decreases the tendency of the molecules to pack closely and results in a higher solid state triplet energy due to reduced solid state π-stacking. Additionally, organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) comprising a layer including these novel compounds are provided.

    摘要: An organic light emitting diode (OLED) architecture in which efficient operation is achieved without requiring a blocking layer by locating the recombination zone close to the hole transport side of the emissive layer. Aryl-based hosts and Ir-based dopants with suitable concentrations result in an efficient phosphorescent OLED structure. Previously, blocking layer utilization in phosphorescent OLED architectures was considered essential to avoid exciton and hole leakage from the emissive layer, and thus keep the recombination zone inside the emissive layer to provide high device efficiency and a pure emission spectrum.
