    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support backscatter-based positioning. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving a tag device indicator that indicates a tag capability of a tag device. The method also includes transmitting, to a first transmission/reception point (TRP) of a plurality of TRPs, a positioning reference signal (PRS) configuration associated with a PRS, the PRS configuration based on the tag capability, the plurality of TRPs including the first TRP designated as a transmit (Tx) TRP and a second TRP designated as a receive (Rx) TRP. The method further includes receiving a measurement report from the second TRP based on a backscatter signal of the positioning reference signal transmitted by the first TRP. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support mechanisms for configuring an uplink relay for wireless powered IoT operations in a wireless communication system. A base station transmits a power signal to wireless powered IoT devices. The wireless powered IoT devices harvest energy from the power signal to power their reception/transmission circuitry. The base station transmits an information signal to trigger the wireless powered IoT devices to reflect a backscatter transmission. The wireless powered IoT devices transmit a backscatter transmission in response to receiving the information signal from the base station. The base station transmits configurations to a UE including configuration information respectively corresponding to the wireless powered IoT devices, and include information that the UE may use to detect the backscatter transmissions from the wireless powered IoT devices and relay them to the base station based on the configurations.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a configuration indicating a set of occasions configured for sidelink communications for the UE. The sidelink communications may include at least one of sidelink traffic, semi-persistent scheduling traffic, or a combination thereof. The UE may receive a control indication associated with a radio network temporary identifier. The control indication may include a downlink control information. In some examples, the UE may skip a first pre-scheduled occasion of the set of occasions configured for sidelink communications based on the control indication, and may perform sidelink communications during a second pre-scheduled occasion of the set of occasions after skipping the first pre-scheduled occasion.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a fallback retransmission for a sidelink. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes monitoring a transmission from a node. The UE can determine that the transmission was not successfully decoded. The UE can send a feedback message to the node indicating that the transmission was not successfully decoded. The feedback message can also include an indication of whether the node or a base station (BS) retransmits the transmission. The node retransmits the transmission or indicates to the BS to retransmit based on the feedback message. The BS can configure the node, the UE, or both with one or more thresholds for determining whether the node or the BS retransmits the transmission.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support half-duplex-aware resource selection in sidelink. A physical (PHY) layer at a user equipment (UE) may report available resources to a medium access control (MAC) layer excluding some resources on which the UE is scheduled to receive or other UEs are scheduled to transmit. Specifically, the PHY layer may exclude resources on which the UE is scheduled to receive from a set of resources available for a sidelink transmission from the UE. Similarly, the PHY layer at the UE may exclude resources on which other UEs are scheduled to transmit from a set of resources available for a sidelink transmission to those UEs. A MAC layer at the UE may indicate to the PHY layer (e.g., directly or indirectly) the resources to be excluded when reporting available resources.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may transmit to a network entity a first signal requesting a modification of allocated resources for sidelink transmission, sidelink reception, or both based on multiple transport blocks (TBs) for communication for the UE. The UE may receive, from the network entity, a downlink control information (DCI) signal granting one or more resources to the UE for sidelink communications based on the first signal. In some cases, the DCI signal may dynamically or periodically grant one or more resources for sidelink transmission, one or more resources for sidelink reception, or both for the UE. The UE may use the granted resources to communicate multiple TBs with one or more other UEs based on the DCI signal. For example, a single DCI message may allocate resources for sidelink communication of multiple TBs.
