Abstract: Methods and apparatus configured to obtain a decision-point value, and send, for a logical channel group (LCG) having a quantity of data pending an uplink transmission, a long buffer status report in response to the decision-point value exceeding a threshold value, or a short buffer status report in response to the decision-point value being equal to or less than the threshold value are disclosed. The decision-point value may be a buffer status report-type determinative value, which may be based on a peak power envelope of a wireless communication device, a data transmission rate historically obtained by the wireless communication device, a number of component carriers available for a complete upload of a buffer holding data, a cost function, an amount of data associated with the LCG that is pending the uplink transmission, a type of the wireless communication device, or a latency of communications of the wireless communication device.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a modem may receive, from an applications processor of a user equipment (UE), a registration message associated with keep alive offloading. Accordingly, the modem may filter incoming transmission control protocol (TCP) packets to determine a current sequence number and a current acknowledgement number. The modem may further receive, from the applications processor, an indication to perform a keep alive procedure. Accordingly, the modem may transmit, periodically. TCP keep alive packets based on the current sequence number and the current acknowledgement number. Numerous other aspects are described.

In the method, the UE receives downlink control information (DCI) indicating for the UE to skip physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring or to extend a connected discontinuous reception (CDRX) active time. The DCI includes one or more of a skip indication, scheduling for a retransmission of a successfully decoded physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), a non-zero downlink assignment with a downlink retransmission transport block (TB) size that is different than an initial downlink transmission TB size, or a non-zero uplink assignment with an uplink retransmission TB size that is different than an initial uplink transmission TB size. The UE further skips transmission of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for the DCI.

A user equipment (UE) determine that at least one packet of a set of packets for a downlink message is unsuccessfully received at a radio link control (RLC) layer of the UE due to a specific situation of a set of specific situations and may transmit the NACK message based on the missing packet (s) on an as needed basis rather than waiting for a timer to expire (e.g., a fast NACK mechanism). In some examples, the specific situations may include the UE missing packets after a measurement gap, missing packets based on wake up latencies for a discontinuous reception mode of the UE, missing packets due to interference from reference signals transmitted by neighboring cells, missing packets due to the UE not decoding retransmissions that have a same redundancy version (RV) of a downlink message, or a combination thereof.
