    摘要: A method and apparatus for operating a high pressure discharge lamp is disclosed. Oscillation in the discharge arc periphery, a problem that occurs with high frequency operation, is eliminated. A high pressure discharge lamp is operated by applying thereto a dc or rectangular wave current to which is superposed an ac component shaped by a high frequency ripple signal that has been amplitude modulated by a modulation signal for inducing instantaneous fluctuations in the power supply input to both ends of the arc gap. The ripple level is thereby temporally varied, and stable operating is possible even exceeding the ripple level at which oscillation in the arc periphery begins.

An electrode assembly 105 is arranged within an evacuated glass bulb 2 such that an end of electrode 102 where a coil 102b is wound is positioned within the light-emitting section 3. In this condition, the portion where the light-emitting section 3 and the side tube 4a (4b) are adjacent is heated by a burner 300. The internal diameter of the side tube 4a (4b) can thereby be formed with a reduced-diameter section 7, whose diameter is smaller than that of the electrode rod 102a without restricting the diameter at the location of the coil 102b.

    摘要: A catalyst for purification of diesel engine exhaust gas is disclosed which comprises having (A) a catalytic component comprising the two elements of iron and manganese and a refractory inorganic oxide and optionally an alkaline earth element and/or a rare earth element and (B) a catalytic component comprising at least one noble metal selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, and rhodium and a refractory inorganic oxide and optionally copper deposited in the form of a single layer on a refractory three-dimensional structure. This catalyst is capable of removing such harmful components as carbonaceous particulates, unburned hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide from the diesel engine exhaust gas and, moreover, suppress the formation of sulfates from sulfur dioxide.

    摘要: A hydraulic booster for a master cylinder in which an inlet valve is interposed between an output pressure chamber at the back of the booster piston and an input pressure chamber connected to a pressure source. Advance of the valve piston opens the inlet valve. An outlet valve between the output chamber and an outlet chamber connected to an oil tank closes at advance of the valve piston relative to the booster piston. The booster chamber is exposed to a rear of a master cylinder operation piston. The valve piston oil feed passage connects input pressure chamber with booster chamber at opening of the outlet valve. The reaction chamber at the front surface of the booster piston is reduced in volume with the advancing movement and is connected to an accumulator making it possible to smooth initial operation of the master cylinder and reduce booster system size.

    摘要: In a hydraulic pressure booster comprising a booster piston slidably fitted in a booster cylinder coupled to a rear end of a master cylinder, the piston having at a leading end thereof an output rod abutting against a rear end of a master piston slidably fitted in the master cylinder, an inlet valve interposed between an output hydraulic oil chamber defined to face a back surface of the booster piston and an input hydraulic oil chamber leading to a hydraulic pressure supply source, the inlet valve being opened in response to an advancing movement, relative to the booster piston, of a valve piston connected to an operating member and slidably fitted in the booster piston, an outlet valve interposed between the output hydraulic oil chamber and an outlet chamber leading to an oil tank, said outlet valve being adapted to be closed in response to the advancing movement of the valve piston relative to the booster piston, and a reaction mechanism provided between the valve piston and the output rod for transmitting an operational reaction force of the output rod to the valve piston, the reaction mechanism comprises a reaction piston slidably fitted in the valve piston in such a manner that a front end thereof is capable of abutting against either of the output rod and the booster piston integral with the output rod, and a hydraulic pressure of the output hydraulic oil chamber acting on a back surface of the reaction piston, and an operation-starting set spring interposed between the valve piston and the reaction piston for biasing the reaction piston rearwardly relative to the valve piston.

    摘要: A hydraulic pressure source device for hydraulic boosters, comprising a hydraulic pump connected via a high-pressure oil passage to an input port of a hydraulic booster and a proportional reducing valve serving as a regulator interposed in the high-pressure oil passage, wherein the proportional reducing valve acts to reduce the pressure above a set level fed from the pump at certain reduction ratio and transmit it to the booster, the valve having a piston which is retractable beyond a valve-closing position to enlarge the volume of an output hydraulic chamber of the valve. Such retracting motion of the valve piston attenuates any impact which may be caused by kickback phenomenon occurring during operation of the booster.
