Abstract:
A light irradiation device according to an embodiment includes a light emitting element, and a substrate on which the light emitting element is mounted. The substrate includes a laminated body constituted so that a plurality of insulating layers are laminated, a first heat transfer member disposed in the laminated body so that a part thereof is located directly below the light emitting element, and a second heat transfer member disposed between the insulating layers so as to surround the first heat transfer member when seen in a plan view. Thermal conductivities of the first heat transfer member and second heat transfer member are higher than a thermal conductivity of the laminated body.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an osteoporosis diagnosis aiding apparatus that utilizes a panoramic radiograph. A digitalized image of the panoramic radiograph enters a personal computer (S210). The cortical bone at the lower edge of the mandibular molar in the panoramic radiograph is specified with a mouse to make that part a target of examination (S220). This extracted image is subjected to the following image processing. (1) Subject the image to median filtering so as to reduce noises throughout that image. (2) Find a skeleton constituted by micro-structural elements (S230). (3) Extract only components parallel to the tilt of the lower edge of the mandible (S240). (4) Binarize the image using Otsu's linear discrimination method, for example (S250). The binarized lines are then classified into three groups according to size, and can be determined as a risk of osteoporosis in a case where there is more than just a single line classified in the largest line group aside from the smallest line group.
Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating password control and maintenance is provided. A system 10 is provided where a plurality of categories are set so that a single piece or multiple pieces of information that are familiar to the user can be set as a password element(s) for each category. Each sampled password element that is grouped according to each category that is randomly sampled from said categories is displayed, in random order, together with a plurality of scramble elements, on a display device 17. Of those displayed, the user chooses selected password elements that are familiar to him. If all of the selected password elements match the preset sampled password elements, authentication is issued to the user.

Abstract:
In a thermal development apparatus provided with a drum to heat a thermally developable material on an outer circumferential surface thereof while rotating at a predetermined constant rotation speed; a feeding device which feeds a sheet-like thermally developable material onto the outer circumferential surface of the drum, whereby the thermally developable material fed by the feeding device is thermally developed by being heated while being held on the outer circumferential surface of the drum; the feeding device feeds each of thermally developable materials to the drum with a timing to shift a position of a leading end of each of thermally developable materials to be held on the drum into a rotation direction of the drum with the shortest time interval Tmin or longer among the thermally developable materials fed onto the drum so as to be continuously heated by the drum.
Abstract:
A method of transferring material from the bottom of a body of water provides a first tank submerged at a predetermined depth above the bottom. A material source is provided at the bottom subject to ambient water pressure, and is fluidly connected with the first tank. Material is transferred from the material source to the first tank by reducing the pressure in the first tank below the ambient water pressure at the predetermined depth. The ambient water pressure at the bottom thus forces the material into the first tank. Material is transferred from the first tank to a second tank under the force of compressed air until the first tank is substantially empty of material and full of compressed air. The first tank is connected to a third tank and an air compressor, the material transfer from the first tank to the second tank taking place by the compressor transferring compressed air to the first tank from the third tank. The material from the material source is transferred by having the compressed air in the first tank transferred to the third tank in order to reduce the pressure in the first tank. These steps can be carried out sequentially to continuously transfer material. A fourth tank can be provided with compressed gas to provide additional compressed air for transfer as well as a source of air for stirring the material in the first tank.
Abstract:
A method of transferring fluent material transfers the material from a first pressure tank to a fluent material transfer destination by supplying compressed gas to the first tank through a compressor. The compressed gas is retained in the first tank for reuse. Additional fluent material is drawn into a second pressure tank and is transferred therefrom to the fluent material transfer destination by supplying the compressed gas from the first pressure tank to the second pressure tank through the compressor. The compressed gas is further retained in the second pressure tank transferring fluent material from the first pressure tank. As the compressed gas is emptied from each tank to the other tank, additional fluent material is drawn into that tank. The cycle can be repeated on a continuous basis to transfer large quantities of fluent material.
Abstract:
To improve the data compression ratio in the data compression/decompression method utilizing the down-sampling process. Image data in a DS area division unit (130) is divided into a plenty of DS areas and DS areas which are not important are converted into contracted data of the block size by down-sampling in a down-sampling unit (131). A relocation unit (132) allocates two or more contracted data in one DS area, inserts file data into the other portion in the DS area, and removes the DS area where no contracted data is allocated, thereby reducing the entire image size. The image data thus contracted is inputted into a JPEG encoder (14) and subjected to a DCT process and a quantization process for each block. When performing restoration, decompression is performed by the JPEG decoder and the original location is restored. As for the contracted data, interpolation is performed to restore the image data.
Abstract:
It can be enabled an accurate diagnosis of osteoporosis by a simple method utilizing panoramic radiographs without requiring special skill or experience of a technician engaged in diagnosis of osteoporosis. It comprises an object region image acquisition means for enhancing the contrast of a mandible bone on digitized panoramic radiographs and extracting a portion of a mandible including a mental foramen and a mandibular base as an object region image; a discrimination and selection means for discriminating between a background portion and the portion of a mandible from the object region image and acquiring, as a judgment region image, a portion from which the background portion is removed; a defined image acquisition means for defining forms of a cortical bone and a cancellous bone constituting the mandible of the judgment region image; a means for specifying the cortical bone portion on the image in which the form is defined; calculation means for determining the thickness of the cortical bone based on the outline constituting the mental foramen and the cortical bone specified by the respective means; and an output means for outputting the determined thickness of the cortical bone.
