    Abstract: Provided is a novel display panel that is highly convenient or reliable or a display panel with a high pixel aperture ratio. The display panel includes the first display element, the first conductive film electrically connected to the first display element, the second conductive film having a region overlapping with the first conductive film, the second insulating film having a region sandwiched between the second conductive film and the first conductive film, a pixel circuit electrically connected to the second conductive film, and the second display element electrically connected to the pixel circuit. The second insulating film includes an opening, and the second conductive film is electrically connected to the first conductive film in the opening.

    Abstract: Provided is a light-emitting device which can prevent appearance of an after-image after power on. Before or after supply of a power voltage applied to a light-emitting element is cut, a potential of a gate electrode of a transistor controlling the supply of the power voltage to the light-emitting element is initialized. Specifically, in the case where the transistor is n-channel type, the potential of the gate electrode is initialized so that a gate voltage is equal to or lower than a threshold voltage. In the case where the transistor is p-channel type, the potential of the gate electrode is initialized so that the gate voltage is equal to or higher than the threshold voltage.

    Abstract: A display device includes a liquid crystal element, a transistor, a scan line, and a signal line. The liquid crystal element includes a pixel electrode, a liquid crystal layer, and a common electrode. The scan line and the signal line are each electrically connected to the transistor. The scan line and the signal line each include a metal layer. The transistor is electrically connected to the pixel electrode. A semiconductor layer of the transistor includes a stack of a first metal oxide layer and a second metal oxide layer. The first metal oxide layer includes a region with lower crystallinity than the second metal oxide layer. The transistor includes a first region connected to the pixel electrode. The pixel electrode, the common electrode, and the first region are each configured to transmit visible light. Visible light passes through the first region and the liquid crystal element and exits from the display device.

    Abstract: To provide a display device with a novel structure that can achieve both thickness reduction and favorable display quality. In a structure of a display device including a liquid crystal layer between a pixel electrode and a counter electrode, a common electrode and an electrode of a capacitor in a touch sensor on the counter electrode side are formed integrally and supplied with a pulse signal. On the element substrate side, a signal to be supplied to a capacitor line that forms a capacitance with the pixel electrode is in conjunction with the pulse signal so as to cancel a change in an electric field applied to the liquid crystal layer. Such a structure can achieve a display device with a touch sensor function that can cancel a change in an electric field applied to a liquid crystal layer even when the electric field is changed by a pulse signal.

    Abstract: A high-image-quality display device having a transmissive mode and a reflective mode is provided. Furthermore, the display device is manufactured with higher yield and higher productivity. In the display device, a transistor used for a transmissive liquid crystal display element, the transmissive liquid crystal display element, a transistor used for a reflective liquid crystal display element, and the reflective liquid crystal display element are stacked in this order between a pair of substrates. In a manufacturing process, one or two manufacturing substrates are used in addition to the pair of substrates included in the display device. The display device is manufactured in such a manner that a second liquid crystal and a second sealant provided to surround the second liquid crystal are bonded to a first liquid crystal sealed using a first sealant. The bonding process is performed such that the first sealant and the second sealant overlap with each other. Moreover, an end portion of the first sealant which is in contact with the first liquid crystal is substantially aligned with or positioned closer to the inner side of the display device than an end portion of the second sealant which is in contact with the second liquid crystal.

    Abstract: An input/output device is provided. The input/output device includes a first pixel electrode, a second pixel electrode, a first common electrode, a second common electrode, a liquid crystal, a first insulating film, a second insulating film, and a transistor. The first common electrode can serve as one electrode of a sensor element. The second common electrode can serve as the other electrode of the sensor element. The transistor includes a first gate, a second gate, and a semiconductor layer. The pixel electrode, the common electrodes, and the second gate are positioned on different planes. The second gate contains one or more kinds of metal elements included in the semiconductor layer. The second gate, the pixel electrode, and the common electrodes preferably contain one or more kinds of metal elements included in the semiconductor layer.

    Abstract: It is an object to provide a liquid crystal display device and a driving method of a liquid crystal display device in each of which deterioration of an image display function can be suppressed and power consumption can be sufficiently reduced. In the liquid crystal display device, a fixed potential is input to a capacitor before a power source is turned off, so that a potential difference between electrodes of the capacitor disappears (capacitance becomes almost zero) such that electric field is not applied to liquid crystals, whereby the liquid crystals are in an initial state. When the supply of the power source is stopped after an initial-state image is displayed, unnecessary electric field is not continuously applied to the liquid crystals in an off state, whereby the liquid crystals can be in the stable initial state; therefore, the liquid crystals can be prevented from deteriorating.

    Abstract: An object is to provide a pulse signal output circuit capable of operating stably and a shift register including the pulse signal output circuit. A pulse signal output circuit according to one embodiment of the disclosed invention includes first to tenth transistors. The ratio W/L of the channel width W to the channel length L of the first transistor and W/L of the third transistor are each larger than W/L of the sixth transistor. W/L of the fifth transistor is larger than W/L of the sixth transistor. W/L of the fifth transistor is equal to W/L of the seventh transistor. W/L of the third transistor is larger than W/L of the fourth transistor. With such a structure, a pulse signal output circuit capable of operating stably and a shift register including the pulse signal output circuit can be provided.
