    摘要: Apparatus and method for encoding and transmitting feedback information from a first network node to a second network node in a multi-carrier wireless telecommunications network. The first network node is operable to receive signals from the second network node on two or more reception carriers and transmit data to the second network node on one or more transmission carriers. Each reception carrier being transmitted within an associated a radio band. The method comprises the steps of: (i) monitoring for a signal on at least two of the reception carriers; (ii) generating feedback information for at least two of the reception carriers based upon received signals; (iii) grouping the feedback information for reception carriers being transmitted within the same radio band; and encoding said grouped feedback information for two or more reception carriers being transmitted within the same radio band; and iv) transmitting the encoded feedback information to the second network node on one or more transmission carriers.

    摘要: A communication system comprises a downlink indicator channel (DL1) for the transmission of a indicator signal (302) indicating that a data packet (202) is scheduled to be transmitted on a downlink data channel (DLz) from a primary station to a secondary station. In operation, on detection of the indicator signal, the secondary station transmits a status signal, for example a negative acknowledgement signal (204), on an uplink channel (UL) to the primary station immediately before transmission of a positive (206) or negative acknowledgement signal to indicate the status of the received data packet. By providing the primary station with two chances to detect the case where the secondary station fails to detect the indicator signal, peak power requirements of the uplink channel can be reduced, thereby reducing system interference levels.

Embodiments of the method may include applying, at a transmitter, a transform matrix and a pre-coding matrix to a signal prior to transmitting the signal using a plurality of antennas deployed in a first antenna configuration. The pre-coding matrix is selected from a codebook defined for a second antenna configuration deployed in a non-scattering environment. The transform matrix is defined based on the first antenna configuration and a scattering environment associated with the transmitter.

    摘要: A radio terminal adjusts its data transmit power in response to received power control commands which specify a maximum transmit power level. The commands may be addressed to an individual radio terminal by means of a first address, or addressed to a group of radio terminals by means of a second address. In order that the data transmit power of an individual radio terminal is not disrupted by the commands addressed to a group, the radio terminal operates in two states. In the first state the radio terminal responds to commands comprising the first address and does not respond to commands comprising the second address. In the second state the radio terminal responds to commands comprising the second address. The radio terminal transfers from the first state to the second state in response to receiving a command comprising the first address and a predetermined value. On entering the second state the transmit power is set in accordance with the last-received command comprising the second address, thereby avoiding the need for transmission of a further command comprising the second address before transmission in the second state can proceed. Alternatively, or additionally, transmission rate may be controlled in the same manner.
