摘要: Self-cleaning printer with reverse fluid flow and method of assembling the printer. The printer comprises a print head defining a plurality of ink channels therein, each ink channel terminating in an ink ejection orifice. The print head also has a surface thereon surrounding all the orifices. Contaminant may reside on the surface and also may completely or partially obstruct the orifice. Therefore, a cleaning assembly is disposed relative to the surface and/or orifice for directing a flow of fluid along the surface and/or across the orifice to clean the contaminant from the surface and/or orifice. The cleaning assembly includes an oscillatable septum disposed opposite the surface or orifice for defining a gap therebetween. Presence of the oscillatable septum accelerates the flow of fluid through the gap to induce a hydrodynamic shearing force in the fluid. This shearing force acts against the contaminant to clean the contaminant from the surface and/or orifice. A pump in fluid communication with the gap is also provided for pumping the fluid through the gap. As the surface and/or orifice is cleaned, the contaminant is entrained in the fluid. A filter is provided to separate the contaminant from the fluid.

摘要: A liquid ink, drop-on-demand printhead includes a substrate having a plurality of drop-emitter orifices, an ink channel coupled to each of the orifices for delivery of a body of ink to the orifices at a pressure above ambient, thereby forming an ink meniscus at the orifices. Drop selection is effected by selectively delivering heat to ink which has been delivered to selectively addressed ones of the orifices, thereby causing a difference in meniscus position between ink in addressed and non-addressed orifices. A heater is suspended in each ink meniscus close to its surface when the meniscus is at its position in a non-addressed orifice, the heater being effective to heat the meniscus and to thereby reduce surface tension of the meniscus at selectively addressed orifices.

摘要: A liquid ink, drop-on-demand pagewidth printhead including a semiconductor substrate, a plurality of drop-emitter nozzles fabricated on the substrate; an ink supply manifold coupled to the nozzles; pressure element for subjecting ink in the manifold to a pressure above ambient pressure; a drop selection device for selectively addressing predetermined nozzles, and drop separation device to transfer ink selected drops from selected nozzles to a print region. A surface tension reducing agent for each nozzle is provided from a supply separate from the ink and integrated into the printhead. An increase in ink drop protrusion from the nozzle surface differentiates selected drops from non-selected drops.

摘要: An electronic keyboard instrument is provided and methods of playing and assembling the same. The instrument comprises a controller for enabling activation of electronic signals having audible, visible, amplifiable, recordable and/or like characteristics, and a power source for operating the controller. A first keyboard is provided having a first selected length and being oriented in a first direction such that (i) audible notes of music from at least one internal sound module and/or at least one external sound module, (ii) recordable data to be enhanced or modified by an external sequencer or program controlled apparatus, (iii) photoelectric signals, and (iv) processes or mechanisms, triggered or controlled by external signals or data, for controlling machines, video playback or lighting, and/or the like may be generated and/or activated using a first hand of one or more users. A second keyboard with a second selected length is generally coextensive with and oriented generally opposite to the first such that (i) audible notes of music from at least one internal sound module and/or at least one external sound module, (ii) recordable data to be enhanced or modified by an external sequencer or program controlled apparatus, (iii) photoelectric signals, and (iv) processes or mechanisms, triggered or controlled by external signals or data, for controlling machines, video playback or lighting, and/or the like may be generated and/or activated using a second hand of the one or more users. In addition, an interface connects the controller to at least one external device having sound module, and/or sequencing and signal enhancement functions. A plurality of peripheral devices operatively connected thereto permit interactive control and manipulation of the signals. Finally, a wearable support is mounted to the instrument for suspending the first and second keyboards from the user's body during instrument operation. Alternatively, the instrument is suspended by a support structure in a generally horizontal fashion for simultaneous operation by multiple users.

摘要: Discovery of electronic devices utilizing a control bus. An embodiment of a method includes connecting a receiving device to a cable, where the cable includes a control bus. If the receiving device is in a disconnect state and a signal from a transmitting device is detected on the control bus, the device is transferred to a state for a first type of transmitting device. If the receiving device is in either the disconnect state or the state for the first type of transmitting device and a predetermined voltage signal is received from the transmitting device, then the receiving device is transferred to a state for a second type of transmitting device.
