    摘要: An electromagnetic actuator and an automatic recloser incorporating such actuator are disclosed. The actuator is shown to include a housing, a permanent magnet member, a coil, an armature, mounted to move axially within the housing between first and second positions, and a non-magnetic spacer. The armature, when in the second position, is spaced a distance from the housing by the spacer. The spacer is mounted to stop movement of the armature in the second position. In the preferred embodiment, the permanent magnet member includes a core and a number of magnet segments attached thereto. It is especially preferred for each of the permanent magnet segments to be arcuate shaped and that each segment be polarized substantially radially or in a direction parallel to the center radius of each segment. In a preferred embodiment, the housing is formed from a material having a high permeability and the spacer is formed from material having a relative permeability close to one or from a substantially non-magnetic material, such as acetal resin.The circuit recloser is shown to include the bistable magnetic actuator, a contact switch, a connecting member, connected between the actuator the contact switch and a spring, connected to bias the connecting member in relation to the contact switch. When the actuator is in its second position the end of the connecting member is spaced from the end of the contact switch, i.e., over travel is present. An indicator is provided for indicating whether the contact switch is open or closed.

    摘要: A method for applying a modified Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) in a protective relaying system involves five basic steps: The first step, S1, comprises measuring voltage and current time-domain samples v(k), i(k). The next step, S2, involves the computation of the DFT of the DC component(s) (V.sub.DC (k), I.sub.DC (k)) of the voltage and current samples. The next step, S3, comprises the computation of the regular DFT (V(k), I(k)). Next, in step S4, the modified DFTs are computed as, V.sub.m (k)=V(k)-V.sub.DC (k), and I.sub.m (k)=I(k)-I.sub.DC (k). In step S5 the modified DFT values representing the desired phasors are employed to carry out various protective relaying functions.

    摘要: A method for estimating phasors and tracking the frequency of a signal during frequency ramping is provided. The method uses a variable N-point DFT periodically to compute one or more phasors based on data acquired from one or more sampled signals. The period between DFT computations is a predetermined number of sample periods. After each DFT computation, the change in phasor angle between the current phasor estimate and the most previous phasor estimate is determined and used to estimate the instantaneous frequency of the signal. The current instantaneous frequency estimate and the most previous instantaneous frequency estimate are averaged to compute an average cycle frequency. In addition, a number of discrete frequencies and corresponding DFT windows based on a fixed sampling rate and a predetermined fundamental frequency of the signal are defined and used in estimating the instantaneous frequency. Once the average cycle frequency is determined the DFT window is adjusted by setting it equal to the DFT window corresponding to the discrete frequency closest to the average cycle frequency. A generator protection system analyzing voltage and current signals output from a generator is also provided. The voltage and current signals are monitored by respective voltage and current sensors to produce a plurality of signals representative of voltage and current characteristics of the generator. The system comprises components for receiving and sampling signal input, and for processing the samples according to the inventive method.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for switching a load between first and second sources is shown to include first and second solid state switches connected to the load. First and second mechanical breakers are connected between the switches and the sources so that each source is connected to the load through a circuit breaker and solid state switch. A controller is connected to sense the voltage from the first and second sources. The controller is connected to the first and second switches and the first and second mechanical breakers. The controller senses the phase difference between the voltages from the first and second sources. The controller causes the first and second mechanical breakers to open and close in response to sensing the phase difference between the sources. The first and second mechanical breakers can include medium voltage vacuum breakers. In a preferred embodiment, when the controller senses that the phase difference between sources is more than 30 degrees out of phase, the controller will open the circuit breaker connected to the alternate source. In this manner voltage stress on the solid state switching devices is minimized.

    摘要: A method and system for estimating phasors and tracking the frequency of a signal is provided. The method uses a variable N-point DFT to compute one or more phasors based on data acquired from one or more sampled signals. At each sampling interval the change in phasor angle between the current sampling interval and the previous sampling interval is determined and used to estimate the instantaneous frequency of the signal. Instantaneous frequencies are averaged over a cycle of the signal.
