摘要: A sample chamber holder for MAS-NMR capable of operating at both low and high pressures. In one example the sample chamber holder is made up of a sample holder body defining a sample chamber therein, a connector configured to operatively statically hold an in situ rotor within the sample chamber; a coupler configured to operatively connect the sampler holder body to a magnetically coupled rotation member. The magnetically coupled rotation member is configured to engage and rotate a sealing cap from an NMR rotor in such a way so as to allow an NMR cap to be alternatively opened or sealed in-situ while the NMR rotor remains statically positioned in an NMR device.

摘要: Reactors are provided that can include a first set of fluid channels and a second set of fluid channels oriented in thermal contact with the first set of fluid channels. The reactor assemblies can also provide where the channels of either one or both of the first of the set of fluid channels are non-linear. Other implementations provide for at least one of the first set of fluid channels being in thermal contact with a plurality of other channels of the second set of fluid channels. Reactor assemblies are also provided that can include a first set of fluid channels defining at least one non-linear channel having a positive function, and a second set of fluid channels defining at least another non-linear channel having a negative function in relation to the positive function of the one non-linear channel of the first set of fluid channels. Processes for distributing energy across a reactor are provided. The processes can include transporting reactants via a first set of fluid channels to a second set of fluid channels, and thermally engaging at least one of the first set of fluid channels with at least two of the second set of fluid channels.

摘要: Riveted assemblies are provided that can include: a first component having opposing first and second sidewalls; a second component having opposing third and fourth sidewalls, wherein the second sidewall of the first component abuts the third sidewall of the second component to bind and form an affixing interface comprising the second and third sidewall between the first component to the second component; and a rivet extending between a head along a shank to an end, the rivet piercing the first sidewall with the end of the rivet being between the first and fourth sidewalls. Methods for affixing at least two components using a rivet are also provided. The methods can include: providing a first component having opposing first and second sidewalls; providing a second component having opposing third and fourth sidewalls; abutting the second sidewall of the first component to the third sidewall of the second component; providing a rivet extending between a head along a shank to an end; projecting the rivet through at least the first sidewall of the first component to form an affixing interface comprising the second and third sidewalls.

摘要: A chronically implanted medical device is disclosed that has an outermost layer formed from a conjugate of a polymer with lipoic acid, the conjugate having free 1,2-dithiolane groups. It is contemplated that this layer scavenges reactive oxygen species, i.e. acts as an antioxidant, and thus reduces inflammation and other adverse effects around the implant itself.

摘要: Dialog based testing is performed in conjunction with a three-dimensional (3D) virtual reality (VR) system including at least one loudspeaker, a microphone, and a 3D VR headset having a display for displaying 3D VR video and a gaze tracker integrated with the headset. The dialog based testing includes: rendering a 3D avatar via the display of the 3D VR headset; engaging in a dialog including causing the rendered 3D avatar to make utterances in accordance with the branching dialog script and receiving responses to the utterances from a test subject wearing the 3D VR headset including at least verbal responses received via the microphone and gaze activity recorded by the gaze tracker and traversing the branching dialog script including selecting branches of the branching dialog script based at least on the verbal responses received via the microphone; and grading the test subject based on the responses.

摘要: This document describes techniques and systems for in operando, non-invasive SOC monitoring of redox flow batteries. The described techniques and systems allow for accurate, inexpensive, portable, and real-time methods to measure the SOC of redox flow batteries. System operators can monitor the SOC by measuring an acoustic attenuation coefficient of the electrolyte in the redox flow battery. The acoustic attenuation coefficient is measured using an ultrasonic transducer attached to a probing cell, which is connected to an electrolyte flow of a redox flow battery. The acoustic attenuation coefficient provides an accurate, real-time SOC measurement that is generally insensitive to varying operational temperatures of the electrolyte solution.
