Abstract:
A wear-resistant component of a carbon seal includes a surface and a coating applied onto the surface. The coating is a chromium carbide-nickel chromium composition constituting between about 75% and about 85% by weight chromium carbide and between about 15% and about 25% by weight nickel chromium. The chromium carbide-nickel chromium composition is applied onto the surface by high velocity oxy-fuel spraying (HVOF).
Abstract:
A method and device for the pretreatment of polymer surfaces of components to be painted. At least one polymer surface of at least one component is preheated to a temperature that minimizes condensation on the component when the component is subsequently cleaned inside a pretreatment cell and then treated with an oxidizing flame. The cleaning of the polymer surface as well as the treatment of the polymer surface with an oxidizing flame are performed inside the same pretreatment cell.
Abstract:
Provided is a printer assembly having a media housing unit having a number of ink reservoirs internally defined by a core portion around which print media is rolled. Also included is an ink supply and printhead unit attached to the media housing unit, said printhead unit having a guillotine blade assembly to cut the print media. The printer assembly also includes a drive unit having a platen configured to extract the print media from the media housing unit and feed it past the printhead unit, said drive unit having ink transmission channels interposed between the ink reservoirs and the ink supply and printhead unit to feed ink from the ink reservoirs to the ink supply and printhead unit. Further included is a controller for controlling operation of the printhead and drive units, said controller configured to maintain said printhead at an equilibrium temperature during printing.
Abstract:
A printhead is provided for an inkjet printer. The printhead includes a wafer assembly defining a plurality of spaced apart groups of ink supply channels and a plurality of groups of ink ejection nozzle arrangements in fluid communication with respective ink supply channel groups. Each ink ejection nozzle arrangement includes a nozzle chamber structure mounted to the wafer assembly. Each ink ejection nozzle arrangement also defines a nozzle chamber for receiving ink from an ink supply channel and an ink ejection port through which ink in the nozzle chamber can be ejected. An anchor extends from the wafer assembly in a location external to the nozzle chamber. An elongate thermal actuator mechanism extends from the anchor and into the nozzle chamber. A pit is defined adjacent each nozzle chamber structure for catching ink and thereby impeding spilt ink from spreading across the printhead.
Abstract:
Processes and apparatus for manufacturing an engineered-composite combining rigid flat-rolled sheet metal continuous-strip and selected polypropylene thermoplastics, which are formulated into dual polymeric coating layers for extrusion deposition, as distinct layers, on a single surface at a time, of continuous-strip, traveling in-line at ambient temperature. Steps for forming a uniform thickness of polymeric layers across strip width, and attraction to an activated metallic surface which provides enhanced adhesion. Solidification of the polymeric layers is augmented by strip temperature during continuous-in-line travel; final dual-surface finishing provides for complete bonding of the polymeric layers on both metallic surfaces.
Abstract:
Provided is a release film, including a plastic film substrate, a surface modification layer formed on a single surface or both surfaces of the plastic film substrate by radiating a flame of a fuel gas including an organosilicon compound onto the single surface or both surfaces, and a silicone release layer composed of a cured product of a curable silicone composition, in which the silicone release layer is provided on top of the surface modification layer. The release film exhibits excellent adhesion between the silicone release layer and the plastic film substrate. The release film is produced at low cost and at a high level of productivity by a method including: forming the surface modification layer on a single surface or both surfaces of the plastic film substrate by radiating a flame of the fuel gas onto the single surface or both surfaces, and forming the silicone release layer on top of the surface modification layer by applying the curable silicone composition to the surface modification layer and then curing the composition.

Abstract:
An inkjet printhead comprises a plurality of sets of inkjet nozzles. Each nozzle comprises a nozzle head from which ink can be ejected and an ink ejection actuator tail extending from the nozzle head. Each set comprises a first row of the nozzle heads and a second row of the nozzle heads with the ink ejection actuator tails being located between the rows.
Abstract:
A multilayered article is disclosed, which includes, in sequence: (1) a substrate (S), e.g., of thermoplastic polycarbonate; (2) a scratch-resistant layer (SR); and (3) a top layer (T). The scratch-resistant layer is prepared by curing a scratch-resistant coating composition comprising a polycondensate prepared from at least one silane, said polycondensate being prepared by a sol-gel process. The top layer is prepared by curing a top layer coating composition prepared by hydrolyzing a composition which includes: at lest one compound represented by general formula I, M(R′)m (I) wherein M is an element selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti, Zr, Sn, Ce, Al, B, VO, In and Zn, R′ represents a hydrolysable radical, and m is an integer from 2 to 4; and optionally at least one compound represented by general formula II, RbSiR′a, (II) wherein the radicals R′ and R are the same or different, R′ is as defined for general formula (I), R represents a group selected from an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, a hydrocarbon group with at least one halogen group, an epoxide group, a glycidyloxy group, an amino group, a mercapto group, a methacryloxy group and a cyano group, and a and b independently of one another have a value from 1 to 3, provided that the sum of a and b is four.
