摘要: An optical waveguide cable is disclosed wherein a bundle of waveguide fibers is formed from a plurality of individual fibers coated with a release agent. The fiber bundle is encapsulated within an encapsulating material in which at least two strength members are embedded. The strength members are disposed parallel to the bundle in a plane substantially through the longitudinal axis of the bundle, at least one of the strength members being disposed in the plane on one side of the bundle while the remaining strength members are disposed in the plane on the other side of the bundle. Each of the waveguide fibers may be coated with a protective layer of a synthetic resinous material applied over the release agent before the bundle is formed.

摘要: Various example embodiments of a self-reporting optical connector device are presented herein. The self-reporting optical connector device may be configured to provide optical connectivity between optical fibers for supporting propagation of optical signals between the optical fibers. The self-reporting optical connector device may be deployed at a customer premises for supporting optical connectivity between an optical fiber originating in an optical communication network and terminating at the customer premises and an optical fiber deployed within the customer premises between the self-reporting optical connector device and an optical termination device at the customer premises. The self-reporting optical connector device may be configured to support self-reporting of an optical fiber status of the optical fiber originating in the optical communication network and terminating at the self-reporting optical connector device in the customer premises.

摘要: An optical fiber cable including a central strength member, a first plurality of tight-buffered ribbon stacks, a binder film, and a cable sheath. The central strength member extends along a longitudinal axis of the optical fiber cable. The tight-buffered ribbon stacks are SZ-stranded around the central strength member. An interstitial space is provided between adjacent tight-buffered ribbon stacks. A binder film continuously and contiguously surrounds the first plurality of tight-buffered ribbon stacks along the longitudinal axis. The binder film includes first portions and at least one second portion. Each of the at least one second portion of the binder film extends into one of the interstitial spaces of the first plurality of tight-buffered ribbon stacks. The cable sheath continuously and contiguously surrounds the binder film along the longitudinal axis, and the cable sheath is coupled to the first portions of the binder film.
