Abstract:
An adaptive downlink control channel structure is provided to enable a transmitter to switch between forward error correction codes that use either Chase combining or incremental redundancy hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) techniques. Chase combining HARQ can be more efficient for forward error correction codes that use higher code rates, while incremental redundancy can be more effective for forward error correction codes that use lower code rates. The transmitter will also selectively comprise the redundancy version indicator bits depending on the HARQ method selected, which can reduce the sizes of the transport blocks when not using incremental redundancy. A receiver device can also decode transport blocks and determine whether a redundancy version indicator is present based on the forward error correction code selected.
Abstract:
A system and method involving using a nonlinear reversible code for probabilistic constellation shaping. A nonlinear reversible code encoder receives information bits and applies a nonlinear reversible code to the information bits to provide encoded bits. A mapper maps the encoded bits to successive amplitude and phase-shift keying (APSK) symbols. Each of the APSK symbols has an APSK modulation format with an associated constellation and the mapper maps each of the symbols to an associated constellation location of the constellation in response to one or more associated ones of the encoded bits.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure may compensate for cyclic shift delays (CSD) in transmitted signals when estimating angle of arrival information of a wireless signal transmitted by a transmitting device. In some aspects, a receiving device may determine a presence of CSD in the wireless signal, and estimate an angle of arrival of the wireless signal based at least in part on the presence of CSD. For example, the receiving device may determine a first tap of the wireless channel based at least in part on the CSD. The receiving device may then determine a phase difference of the wireless signal between a plurality of antennas of the receiving device based on the first tap of the wireless channel. The receiving device may estimate the angle of arrival of the wireless signal based on the phase difference.
Abstract:
A system and method involving a coded modulation scheme using an M-APSK format with a circular constellation. A maximum achievable spectral efficiency for the transmitters may be selected and a spectral efficiency step-size of the maximum achievable spectral efficiency may be specified. The spectral efficiency for any transmitter in the system may be individually selected by reducing its spectral efficiency from the maximum achievable spectral efficiencies by a selected number of steps corresponding to the step size.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A communication device includes: a receiving terminal; a storage device which stores a rule in which a condition regarding a bus system operation environment and an error tolerance scheme are associated with each other, and information regarding a path length; an error processor which determines the error tolerance scheme by utilizing the condition regarding the bus system operation environment and the rule so as to generate error tolerance information corresponding to the received data according to the determined error tolerance scheme; and a sending terminal for sending at least one packet including the error tolerance information and the data to the bus. The operation environment-related condition is a condition for granting an error tolerance for a transmission path of which a bus path length to another communication device, which is a destination of the data, is greater than a predetermined value.
Abstract:
Downlink rate adaptation in wireless communication systems are disclosed in which a UE reports RIs for both interference-free and interference-limited subframes. In general, the RI for the interference-free subframes will be higher than the RI reported for the interference-limited subframes. However, an eNB selects an RI and a transmission rate for interference-limited subframes based on what the UE can sustain instead of based only on the RI reported by the UE.

Abstract:
Selecting a physical channel for cellular communication based on application traffic pattern. A radio bearer may be established between a wireless device and a base station. A physical downlink channel may be selected for the radio bearer. The physical downlink channel may be selected based on an application traffic pattern of an application associated with the radio bearer. In some instances, a physical uplink channel may also be selected based on an application traffic pattern of an application associated with the radio bearer.
