A light weight pneumatic tire having a thin side wall rubber is disclosed. The thin side wall rubber has previously been squeezed on that region of the outer surface of an upper ply which corresponds to the side wall portion of the tire prior to the tire shaping step, and has a Shore A hardness after vulcanization of 40.degree. to 55.degree., an excellent flex-cracking and weather resistant property. The upper ply is superimposed about at least a portion extending from a hump portion to a bead portion is composed of cords coated with a high resilient rubber. A tread rubber layer is extended across the thin side wall rubber layers and pressed and made integral therewith by stitching.

A radial tire for heavy load vehicles such as light trucks, trucks, busses, super-large type construction vehicles, etc. is disclosed. The radial tire comprises a carcass ply composed of a steel cord ply and wound around a bead core from the inside toward the outside thereof to form a turn-up portion. The upper end of the turn-up portion is upwardly extended to a position located between a point passing over the maximum width point of the carcass ply expanded by applying an internal pressure to the tire and a point where a normal drawn perpendicular from a hump to the carcass ply crosses with the carcass ply. The turn-up portion of the carcass ply is separated from the carcass ply by means of a soft rubber layer composed of rubber having a Shore A hardness which is smaller than a Shore A hardness of a coating rubber of the carcass ply and a 300% modulus of elasticity which is 50% to 85% of a 300% modulus of elasticity of the coating rubber of the carcass ply.

A pneumatic vehicle tire with a carcass the layers of which are anchored at the beads by being looped around the bead cores. The angle formed between the textile cord strips and the circumferential line of the tire is 15* to 40* and the textile cords are parallel to one another. The metal cords are also parallel to one another. The angle formed between the metal cord strip and the tire''s circumferential line is from 2* to 10* greater than the angle between the textile cords and the circumferential line. The angle of inclination of the metal cord strip is in a direction opposite to the textile cord strips.
