Abstract: Method for controlling the symmetry of the footprint area of a tyre miming on a straight trajectory with camber angle different from zero, wherein the method comprises the steps: —reducing the contact pressure of the tyre (2) on the footprint area at an inner shoulder (in case of negative camber) or at an outer shoulder (in case of positive camber); —disposing any medium line (Im) of the tread band (9) placed in correspondence with the footprint area substantially parallel to the ground; the invention also defines a tyre and a wheel for motor-vehicles, wherein the medium line (Im) of the tread hand (9) and the rotation axis (X-X) of the tyre (2) form an angle (a) substantially equal in absolute value to the camber angle (β); the invention also encompasses a process for manufacturing such tyres, wherein a green tyre with symmetric outer profile is deformed during the vulcanising and moulding step until a predetermined angle (a) different from zero is formed between any medium line (Im) of the tread band (9) and the rotation axis (X-X) of the vulcanised tyre (2).

Abstract: Provided is a pneumatic tire that can provide improved communication performance of a transponder while ensuring durability of the tire. In a pneumatic tire including a tread portion extending in a tire circumferential direction and having an annular shape, a pair of sidewall portions respectively disposed on both sides of the tread portion, and a pair of bead portions each disposed on an inner side of the pair of sidewall portions in a tire radial direction, a transponder is embedded in one of the sidewall portions, the transponder is covered with a coating layer, a relative dielectric constant of the coating layer is lower than a relative dielectric constant of a peripheral rubber member adjacent to the coating layer, and a total thickness Gac of the coating layer and a maximum thickness Gar of the transponder satisfy a relationship 1.1≤Gac/Gar≤3.0.

Abstract: Provided is a pneumatic tire which comprises a pair of left and right bead portions, sidewall portions continuous from the bead portions, and a tread portion that couples the sidewall portions. The pneumatic tire has a carcass layer mounted between the left and right bead portions. The sidewall portions each have a foamed rubber layer disposed outside the carcass layer and a side rubber layer disposed outside the foamed rubber layer. The density of the foamed rubber layer is from 0.5 to 0.9 g/cm3 and a tan δ of the foamed rubber layer at 20° C. is not greater than 0.17. A rubber composition for sidewalls that forms the side rubber layer is obtained by blending from 1 to 20 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin and from 10 to 65 parts by weight of a carbon black in 100 parts by weight of a diene rubber.

Abstract: This invention is based upon the discovery that micronized solution styrene-butadiene rubber from postconsumer sources can be included in rubber formulations without severely compromising abrasion resistance. The micronized solution styrene-butadiene rubber utilized in the rubber formulations of this invention can be made by cryogenic grinding postconsumer rubber products using conventional procedures. For instance, it can be made by cryogenically grinding a tire tread containing a high level of solution styrene-butadiene rubber. The micronized solution styrene-butadiene rubber can then be blending into desired virgin rubbers and cured without significantly compromising the abrasion resistance of the rubber formulation. The rubber formulation of this invention is comprised of a natural or synthetic rubber and from 1 weight percent to 30 weight percent of a micronized rubber composition containing at least 10 weight percent solution styrene-butadiene rubber and having a particle size of 40 mesh to 200 mesh.

Abstract: A low compaction cantilevered tire construction is provided which is designed for use at relatively low inflation pressures and which has sidewalls with a relatively uniform bending resistance through the majority of the sidewall. When the tire is placed under high loads at low inflation pressures the sidewall deflects substantially radially and allows the tread portion of the tire to maintain its intended shape thus improving the contact area of the tire and providing a tire having a relatively high contact area and thus relatively low soil compaction for a given loading.
