摘要： According to the present invention, a haptic interface system, also known as a force feedback system, comprises a motor for supplying actuating energy and a magnetically-controllable device that transfers the actuating energy into force feedback sensations. The magnetically-controllable device contains a magnetically-controllable medium beneficially providing variable resistance forces in proportion to the strength of an applied magnetic field. The system further comprises a computer system having a processor that runs an interactive program or event, a video display for displaying the interactive program or event, and a haptic interface device in operable contact with an operator for controlling inputs to the interactive program. Based on the received inputs and on processing the interactive program, the computer system provides a variable output signal, corresponding to a feedback force, to control the magnetically-controllable device in transferring the actuating energy into feedback force that is actively applied to haptic interface device.

摘要： A method of operating a computer system to provide a game of chance for players, based on a horse race in which horses are assigned post positions, in which a ticket is provided having two columns, one for horse post positions and the second containing a number of rows, each containing entry locations for all possible finishing positions. The player marks in each row one finishing position for each horse, a different finishing position for each row, thus producing a player data set, before post positions are assigned to the horses. The player data sets are entered in a central computer. Horse post positions are then drawn and a post position data set is entered in the computer. After the race is run, an outcome data set is entered in the computer and is compared with a combination of the player data set and the post position data set to see whether any player data sets correspond to the outcome data set.

摘要： A method of simultaneously playing multiple hands of a poker game dealt from a single deck is provided. The player places an initial wager, and three to five cards are initially dealt from the deck into a first hand. The player may hold the cards in the first hand or move cards from the first hand into second, or third or subsequent hands. After the player moves each card from the first hand, a new card is dealt from the deck into the vacant position left in the first hand. When all the cards in the first hand have been held or moved into vacant positions in the second, third or subsequent hands, cards are dealt from the deck to fill in the remaining vacant positions in all the hands. The value of the poker hands is determined, and the player paid off in accordance with a predetermined payoff schedule. A casino-style electronic game implementing this method is also provided.

摘要： A computer selected “quick pick” wagering system uses keys in the form of random numbers to serve as seed numbers in a pseudo-random number generating algorithm. A sales agent's terminal uses the algorithm and seed to produce random number combinations for each play from a pool, assigning the number combinations sequentially and printing them, together with a sequential serial number, onto lottery tickets. By storing the algorithm and seed at both the host computer and remote agent terminal, the remote terminal can transmit all pertinent wagering information by only transmitting the actual count of plays sold, thereby reducing the amount of data exchanged by several orders of magnitude. The host computer can then reconstruct the wagers and compare them to winning number combinations. Liability information for each terminal is transmitted back to the agent together with new seed numbers, so the agent terminal may begin selling plays for a new pool while also verifying accurate data exchange. The reduced data exchange makes available novel methods of data transfer, such as satellite packet transmission and cellular service.

摘要： A method for providing bonus jackpot payoffs during a bonus mode time period in a system of linked gaming machines interconnected to a controller. Eligible gaming machines are determined at the time the bonus time period starts. Once the bonus mode time period starts, a portion of the eligible gaming machines are randomly selected for multiple jackpot bonus payoff opportunities. The random selection determines the rate the opportunities are issued and the average length of the bonus mode time period. Once gaming machines are selected they are allowed to complete the game they are currently involved in and should the play result in a winning combination, then the game payoff is multiplied by a bonus multiplier. The underlying gaming machine is responsible, in a conventional fashion, for paying the game payoff and the controller then authorizes a further jackpot bonus payoff of the bonus multiplier less one times the game payoff. The bonus pool value is then decremented by the amount paid by the controller. This process repeats until the bonus mode multiplier opportunities for each bonus multiplier in each bonus round is completed or until the bonus pool value drops below zero.
