    摘要: A rasp for the scraping of worn rubber tires has a generally cylindrical body composed of a multiplicity of blades peripherally adjoining one another, the blades being sandwiched between a pair of end disks held together by an axial bolt and bridged by axially extending rods which traverse at least two mounting holes in each blade. The blades may have a polygonal shape, with three or more toothed sides, overlapping one another so that one toothed side of each blade comes to lie along the periphery of the body to define part of a cutting surface. Additional apertures in the blades serve for the circulation of air therethrough, these apertures being flanked by lugs integral with the blades which are bent out laterally to form spacers therebetween; the end disks may also be apertured to facilitate air cooling of the body. Each blade tooth is bounded by four concave arcuate edges defining three sharp points, the middle point projecting radialy beyond the two flanking points; each tooth, or each pair of adjacent teeth, is symmetrical about a radial line.

    摘要: In realizing the present method a ring-shaped tool is used with the cutting edge formed at the intersection of its inner and end surfaces, said tool is slipped over an article to be machined and positioned at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the article, the angle being selected depending on the curvature of the work surface, and then the cutting tool and the product are given a relative motion to provide for the interaction of the tool and the surface of the article being machined, such that the article moves only progressively, while the cutting tool is only rotating. In an installation for removing production-caused excess metal from curved surfaces of long-sized articles by the present method, the tool is ring-shaped with the cutting edge at the intersection of its inner and end surfaces, means for fixing the cutting tool comprises a holder rotating together with the tool around the article in the course of machining and provided with devices for inclining the holder in relation to the longitudinal axis of the article and for fixing it in the inclined position, while the holder with the cutting tool accommodates a support for positive pressing of the article against the cutting edge of the tool, and means for relative displacement of the cutting tool and the article is represented by a device imparting to the tool and the article such relative motion that the article moves only progressively, while the cutting tool is only rotating.

    摘要: In the manufacture of cylindrical, seam-welded tube from strip stock wherein a strip is cold rolled into a cylindrical tube and the longitudinal edges of the strip are welded along a longitudinal seam of the tube, the weld operation leaving a longitudinal, raised bead on the internal cylindrical surface of the tube, a procedure for removing the weld bead including the steps of distending the internal surface of the tube in a plane containing the weld bead to a predetermined dimension exceeding the nominal internal diameter of the welded tube thereby to locate the bead at a constant radial distance from the longitudinal axis of the tube, disposing within the tube a cutting tool having a cutting edge located at a fixed radial distance from the axis of the tube exceeding the constant radial distance, and effecting relative longitudinal movement between the cutting tool and the tube so that the weld bead is removed to a constant depth.
