New cationic pyrazole dyestuffs are disclosed represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein one of the symbols R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 represents an alkyl group and the other a phenyl, chlorophenyl or methoxyphenyl group; R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group; R.sub.4 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, halogenoalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or acylaminoalkyl group; X represents a hydrogen or chlorine atom; Y represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a methyl, alkoxy or acetylamino group; and A.sup.- represents a monovalent anion. These pyrazole dyestuffs can be used for dyeing or printing of fibers based on polymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile and fibers based on polyamides or polyesters modified by acid groups.

Process for the manufacture of a disazo dyestuff of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each stand for hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each stand for hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, nitro, trifluoromethyl, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and the hydroxyl groups each stand in 2- or 4-position to the azo groups which comprises diazotizing a 2- or 4-hydroxy-4'-aminoazobenzene of the formula ##STR2## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are defined as above, with an alkali metal nitrite in an aqueous mineral acid, the normality of which being about 10.sup.-2 to 5, in the presence of a phenol capable of being coupled of the formula ##STR3## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are defined as above and subsequently reacting the diazonium salt obtained with the phenol by raising the pH to a value between about 3 and 11, the surprising feature of this process (diazotization in the presence of the phenol) being that practically no nitrozation or a nitration of the phenol occurs.

Disazo dyes of the general formula: ##STR1## are provided where A is phenyl, naphthyl, phenyl substituted by up to 3 substituents or naphthyl substituted by up to 2 substituents; D is phenyl, naphthyl, or phenyl or naphthyl substituted by up to 2 substituents selected from alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1-4 carbon atoms or halogen and X is alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, benzyl or phenyl. The dyes when applied to metallized polyolefin fabrics, particularly nickel-containing polypropylene fabrics, produce strong bright shades which are exceptionally fast to light, dry cleaning, crocking, gas and heat.

Novel diazonium compounds and methods for their preparation are disclosed. Specifically, 1-(4'-diazoniumphenyl)-1,2-dihydro pyrid-2-imino-sulfinate is prepared by rearrangement of 2-(4'-diazobenzene-sulfonylamino)-pyridine, and 1-(4'-diazoniumphenyl)-2-amino-pyridinium salts are obtained by reaction of 1-(4'-diazoniumphenyl)-1,2-dihydro-pyrid-2-imino-sulfinate with aqueous acids. The novel compounds are useful as precursors for azo dyestuffs.
