    Abstract: Medical data including temperature, respiration rate and pulse rate are measured and stored in an acquisition unit incorporating a circulating register for storing data covering many patients. An analog temperature signal is converted into binary coded decimal for visual presentation on a display of the acquisition unit. The display data is then stored in the acquisition unit memory by actuating a RECORD switch. An analog respiration rate signal and an analog pulse rate signal are also converted into binary coded decimal for sequential display and storage in the acquisition unit memory. Medical data from external sources may similarly be stored in the acquisition unit memory. This recording procedure is repeated for any number of patients desired up to the storage limit of the acquisition memory. Data stored in the acquisition unit is then transferred into a printer unit that accesses each memory location and prints the data on a separate label for each individual patient. The printer includes a hard wired minicomputer which reads in data from the acquisition unit and compares it with identifying codes for controlling a digital printer. Medical data for each patient stored in the acquisition unit is temporarily stored in a random access memory and sequentially compared with each of a plurality of identifying codes for control of the digital printer. After all patient data in the acquisition unit has been transferred into the printer memory, a signal is generated to enable clearing of the acquisition unit memory for subsequent use thereof.

    Abstract: A combined analogue/digital computer in which analogue functions of slowly varying analogue input signals are computed and stored as analogue output signals under the control of a digital programme memory. The selection of the input signals, selection of the function and selection of a store for each analogue output signal is controlled by a digital instruction word, and a clock defines time slots each assigned to a respective instruction word and during which time each analogue input may be considered to be constant.     Abstract: A trainable signal processor having at least one input signal u and one desired output signal z applied thereto during training and having at least one input signal u and one actual output signal x derived therefrom during execution is provided. From each member of the input sequence u(ti) a key Ki is generated. Ki may have only a finite number of values and is a single valued function of u.     Abstract: Preserving user privacy and preventing surveillance on behalf of users of a virtual reality world. One or more plans are available when a privacy or surveillance risk to a user is detected. In one plan, configurable scripts execute on behalf of the user to create a confusing array of clone avatars that obfuscate the real user avatar behavior. A malevolent avatar, attempting to surveil the user, may have difficulty distinguishing the clones from the user and may miss out on private insights he might otherwise have learned from the user's behavior. In another exemplary privacy plan, a copy of part of the virtual world is spawned, occupied exclusively by the user's avatar, and then merged into the main world. Privacy plans may be selected manually or automatically in response to perceived privacy threats to strike a balance between privacy and enjoyment within the virtual world.

    Abstract: A microphone assembly includes a housing including a base, a cover, and a sound port. The microphone assembly further includes an acoustic transducer and an electrical circuit, both of which are disposed in an enclosed volume of the housing. The transducer and electrical circuit work in concert to convert sound waves into a processed digital audio signal. The electrical circuit is configured to process digital data in a series of frames that correspond to a fixed period in time. The electrical circuit is further configured to reduce noise in the resulting signal by varying the current draw required in a randomized or pseudo-randomized fashion between adjacent frames of digital data.

    Abstract: A sampling oscilloscope includes a trigger generation circuit that includes a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) that outputs a trigger clock input in an operable frequency range at an arbitrary output frequency, a band pass filter (BPF) that limits a pass band of the trigger clock output from the direct digital synthesizer and a variable frequency divider that divides a frequency of the trigger clock of which the pass band is limited by the band pass filter, and generates a strobe signal of a frequency at which a sampler can be operated. The sampling oscilloscope includes a controller that calculates a phase shift amount with reference to a pattern cycle of data generated by a one-time strobe signal and adjusts a phase by changing a count value of a phase accumulator of the direct digital synthesizer so that the calculated phase shift amount is eliminated.
