Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide methods, apparatus and machine-readable media relating to transport of data flows over cellular network. One method in a core network node comprises: obtaining configuration information for a data stream in an external data network, the configuration information indicating respective values for one or more fields within a header of data packets associated with the data stream which are to remain static; initiating transmission of the configuration information to a wireless device which is to receive the data stream; receiving a data packet associated with the data stream from the external data network; removing the one or more fields from the data packet to generate a compressed data packet; and initiating transmission of the compressed data packet to the wireless device.

A compressor may determine that a first portion of the stream of data packets is formatted according to the transmission control protocol (TCP) with a multipath TCP (MPTCP) option enabled. The compressor may establish context with a corresponding decompressor and may operate in one of three modes of compression based on the context. In some embodiments, when the context indicates that the corresponding decompressor supports decompression of TCP data packets with MPTCP option enabled, the compressor may operate in a first or second mode of compression. In some embodiments, when the context indicates that the corresponding decompressor does not support decompression of TCP data packets with MPTCP option enabled, the compressor may operation in a third mode of compression.

Abstract: Embodiments of the apparatus for modifying packet headers relate to a use of bit vectors to allow expansion and collapse of protocol headers within packets for enabling flexible modification. A rewrite engine expands each protocol header into a generic format and applies various commands to modify the generalized protocol header. The rewrite engine maintains a bit vector for the generalized protocol header with each bit in the bit vector representing a byte of the generalized protocol header. A bit marked as 0 in the bit vector corresponds to an invalid byte, while a bit marked as 1 in the bit vector corresponds to a valid byte. The rewrite engine uses the bit vector to remove all the invalid bytes after all commands have been operated on the generalized protocol header to thereby form a new protocol header.

Abstract: A broadcast signal transmission method comprises outputting an RoHC channel that includes one or more RoHC streams and a signaling table that includes information related to header compression by performing header compression for Internet Protocol (IP) packets, which include broadcast data, in accordance with an adaptation mode, a header of each IP packet including an IP header and a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) header, generating at least one first link layer packet that includes the RoHC channel and generating at least one second link layer packet that includes the signaling table, and physical layer processing the at least one first link layer packet and the at least one second link layer packet and transmitting through one or more Physical Layer Pipes (PLPs), wherein the signaling table includes adaptation mode information indicating the adaptation mode, and each RoHC stream in the RoHC channel includes RoHC packets.
