    摘要: A circuit for detecting the end of life of a fluorescent lamp is provided. In this circuit, a rectifier rectifies a voltage signal detected from a ballast. A phase detector detects the phase of the voltage signal and outputs at least one phase detection signal. A signal separator separates the rectified voltage on a phase basis to generate first and second voltage signals in response to the phase detection signal. A first maximum level detector detects the maximum level of the first voltage signal. A second maximum level detector detects the maximum level of the second voltage signal. A first comparison unit compares the first and second maximum levels and detects whether or not the difference is higher than a predetermined allowable level. A controller determines whether or not the fluorescent lamp is at the end of life in response to the detection from the first comparison unit.

The presence or absence of this direct current voltage provides a reliable indicia of the existence or absence of a gas discharge fault.

    摘要: An implement for removing from its socket and testing a Christmas light bulb which has a handle with two opposite ends. The handle has a cap secured to one of the ends. The cap has a socket in its distal end and the socket is adapted to loosely receive the base of a bulb. A cavity is formed in the other of the ends. The cavity has a top and a pair of opposite side walls that extend toward the other end, and a bottom. A bulb gripper is provided in the bottom for gripping the base of a bulb. A battery is housed in the handle. The battery is easily accessible so that it can be removed and replaced as desired. The battery and the cap are electrically connected. The handle cooperatively attaches the cap and the cavity and the gripper so that the bulb can be positioned in the cavity and the gripper can grip the base to the bulb from its socket without separating the bulb from its base. The bulb then can be loosely positioned in the socket and tested.

    摘要: The present disclosure describes a method for determining the condensate location within an HID lamp. The method involves monitoring current and voltage waveforms during the glow phase of lamp starting. If the voltage drop during the glow phase is low with a corresponding high current, then the volatile component of the lamp fill has condensed on the electrodes during the previous cool down period. If the voltage drop is high and current is low then most of the condensate has localized on the arc tube wall. An automated detection apparatus is used to carry out the measurements to determine condensate location.

    摘要: The apparatus is used for detecting the proper conductivity of a conductive film enclosed within a nonconductive substrate or envelope such as a fluorescent lamp without requiring physical contact with the fluorescent lamp. The conductive film detector comprises a capacitive proximity switch mounted close to but spaced from the lamp as the lamp passes the inspection station. At the inspection station there is also provided a feeler switch for sensing lamp presence and a cam switch for inspection initiation when the lamp is instantaneously properly positioned. A control unit powers the capacitive proximity switch and receives the proximity switch output to control a lamp rejection mechanism for rejecting lamps having resistance that is too high. The set up procedure involved adjustment of the capacitive proximity switch sensitivity by using test lamps of alternately acceptable resistance and unacceptable resistance, along with adjustment of lamp-to-proximity switch spacing.

    摘要: An image evaluation apparatus for quantitative and qualitative evaluation of an optical image generated by an x-ray imaging system of the type including an x-ray source, an image intensifier tube for converting received x-ray radiation to optical images to be recorded photographically and/or electronically. The evaluation apparatus comprises an image projection device in the form of a cylindrical housing having a lens mounted in one end and a light diffuser mounted in a second end. The lens is of the type having a focal point at infinity such that all of the light passing through the lens is substantially parallel. The evaluation apparatus is mounted to the x-ray imaging system in a position normally occupied by one of the recording or display apparatus so as to be in a position for receiving light generated by the optical image on the image intensifier tube. The received light is focused onto the diffuser and its intensity is measured using a light photometer. The intensity distribution measurement on the diffuser provides an indication of the performance of the imaging system including the intensifier tube and associated optical transmission elements in the light transmission path.

    摘要: A beam from a test image is split into two paths. The beam in one path may pass through broad-band or narrow-band attenuators to the intensifier being tested. A portion of the beam in the other path passes through a hole in a reflector to the eye of a viewer. The intensifier provides an output beam, and this beam is reflected by the reflector to the eye of the view. The viewer thus sees an image that may have a lighter or darker portion, depending on whether the output beam from the intensifier is brighter or dimmer than the test image. Various attenuators may be inserted in the one optical path to provide tests of such things as intensifier gain, relative gain, or EBI on a go/no go basis.
