    摘要: An antenna device for transmitting and receiving radio frequency waves, installable in a communication device includes an antenna structure switchable between antenna configuration states. Each state is distinguished by a set of radiation parameters, such as resonance frequency, input impedance, bandwidth, radiation pattern, gain, polarization, and near-field pattern. A switching device selectively switches the structure between the states. The antenna device includes a first receiver which receives a first measured operation parameter indicative of quality of transmission of radio frequency waves by the antenna structure, and a second receiver which receives a second measured operation parameter indicative of quality of reception of radio frequency waves by the structure. The antenna device includes a controller which controls the switching device, and selective switching of the antenna structure between the states, based on the first and second measured operation parameters, to improved transmission and/or reception quality.

The receiver section includes a receiving antenna structure selectively switchable between a plurality of configuration states. The antenna structure may be switched by a switching device, which is controlled by a control device. The selective switching is effected based upon a first measure representing a reflection coefficient measured at the transmitter section. A method for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves includes receiving a measure representing a reflection coefficient and controlling a switching device to selectively switch an antenna structure between a plurality of antenna configuration states in response to the measure representing the reflection coefficient.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for optimizing the efficiency of a power amplifier (1) that is utilized for transmission of radio signals in a portable radio communication device, such as a mobile phone. The impedance loading the power amplifier (1) is controlled by a controller (5) in dependence on a transmission power of the portable radio communication device, wherein the radiating impedance of an antenna element (2) loading the power amplifier is controlled in dependence of the desired load impedance. Preferably, the changing of radiating impedance is performed by changing a capacitive coupling between the antenna element and a ground element or by changing the size of the antenna element. Better efficiency and bandwidth are thereby attained.

    摘要: A multi-band antenna device for a portable radio communication device has first and second radiating elements (10, 20). A controllable switch (30) is arranged between the radiating elements for selectively interconnecting and disconnecting thereof. The state of the switch is controlled by means of a control voltage input (VSwitch). A filter (40) that blocks radio frequency signals is arranged between the feeding portion and the control voltage input. A DC blocking arrangement (50) is arranged between a grounding portion (14) on the first radiating element and ground wherein the first and second radiating element are generally planar and arranged at a predetermined distance above a ground plane. By means of this arrangement, two broad and spaced apart frequency bands are obtained with retained performance and small overall size of the antenna device. A communication device comprising such an antenna device is also provided.
