    摘要: An acidic aqueous zinc-containing coating solution containing about 0.08 to about 0.2 weight percent of zinc, about 0.8 to about 3 weight percent of phosphate, about 0.05 to about 0.35 weight percent of chlorate, about 0.001 to about 0.1 weight percent of nitrite, and a complex fluoride ion having the following concentration:0.4.gtoreq.y.gtoreq.0.63x-0.042wherein x is the concentration of the zinc in weight percent and y is the concentration of the complex fluoride ion in weight percent. The coating solution is useful for forming on metal surfaces zinc phosphate coatings that exhibit excellent alkali resistance, good adhesion to a paint film, and good corrosion resistance after painting when used as an undercoat for the cationic electrodeposition of a paint film.

    摘要: In chromium-free aqueous acidic washing solutions for cleaning the surfaces of aluminum and aluminum-alloy particles, so as to remove therefrom smut and lubricating oil left on the surfaces thereof after metal forming operations, which solutions contain from 0.2 to 4 g/l ferric ion and sufficient sulfuric and/or nitric acid to impart a pH of 2 or less to the solutionh (and which optionally may also contain fluoride ions up to a concentration of 0.5 g/l) there is provided a method of controlling the effectiveness of the washing solution in which the ferric ion concentration therein is monitored, conveniently by the oxidation-reduction potential of the washing solution, as shown in FIG. 3, and is controlled within the desired limits by adding when appropriate suitable amounts of oxidant capable of oxidizing ferrous ions to ferric ions and, separately or in conjunction therewith, a replenisher containing a source of iron ions.

The solutions are acidic aqueous phosphate solutions containing (a) from 0.1 to 1.5 g/l of zinc ion; (b) from 5 to 50 g/l of phosphate ion; (c) from 0.2 to 4 g/l of manganese ion; (d) at least 0.05 g/l of fluoride ion; (e) less than 0.5 g/l of chloride ion; and (f) a phosphating accelerator. The metal surface phosphated with the solution including galvanized steel, is free of white spots and is suitable for electrocoating.

    摘要: Corrosion inhibiting compositions for addition to aqueous acid metal cleaning compositions for use in the cleaning of surfaces of metal parts which are contaminated with water insoluble, acid soluble deposits, wherein the corrosion inhibiting composition contains a partially hydrolyzed protein which is either a partially hydrolyzed gelatin, a partially hydrolyzed casein or a mixture thereof wherein the partially hydrolyzed protein has a total nitrogen content of from about 10 to about 20% by weight and a free amino group nitrogen content of from about 4 to about 30% based on the total nitrogen content. The invention also relates to aqueous acid solutions containing the corrosion inhibitor of the invention and to processes for treating contaminated metal parts with such acid compositions.

    摘要: In a process wherein a resinous coating is formed on a metallic surface by immersing the surface in an acidic aqueous coating composition containing dispersed particles of resin, wherein said composition forms on said surface a resinous coating which increases in thickness the longer the surface is immersed in the composition and wherein the resinous coating is contacted with an aqueous solution containing Cr in order to improve properties (e.g. corrosion resistance), the surface slip of the applied coating is increased by having dispersed in the Cr-containing solution a polymer which has a lower coefficient of friction than the applied resinous coating.
