    Abstract: Provided herein is a method for pretreating aluminum materials, particularly aluminum wheels, wherein an aluminum material is successively i) cleaned and subsequently rinsed, ii) optionally subjected to alkaline pickling and subsequently rinsed, iii) optionally contacted with an aqueous composition comprising at least one mineral acid, iv) optionally rinsed and v) contacted with an acidic aqueous composition comprising a) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of titanium, zirconium and hafnium compounds and b) at least one linear terpolymer prepared by controlled radical polymerisation and comprising vinylphosphonic acid monomeric units, hydroxylethyl- and/or hydroxylpropyl-(meth)acrylate monomeric units and (meth)acrylic acid monomeric units, vi) optionally rinsed, vii) optionally contacted with another aqueous composition, viii) optionally rinsed and ix) optionally dried. Further provided herein is a corresponding composition as well as the use of the materials treated according to the method.

    Abstract: Provided herein is a process for the pretreatment of workpieces having a surface of aluminum or aluminum alloys for noncutting forming and/or joining by welding or adhesive bonding to similarly pretreated, precoated workpieces, or to precoated parts. The parts are composed of steel, galvanized steel, and/or alloy-galvanized steel. Further provided herein is a subsequent permanent corrosion-protecting treatment by phosphating, by means of a chromium-free conversion treatment, by application of primer, or by surface coating, wherein the workpieces are a) pickled by means of an aqueous, acidic solution comprising mineral acid by dipping or spraying, b) rinsed with water, and c) brought into contact with an aqueous, acidic, chromium-free solution comprising Zr as complex fluoride and Mo as molybdate by application by dipping or spraying. After subsequent drying, a layer weight from 2 to 15 mg/m2 of Zr and Mo is formed.

    Abstract: A method comprises sorting and removing impurities from magnesium alloy waste material, and cleaning and drying said material, the cleaning being high-pressure rinsing, pickling, and water washing, performed in sequence. The method employs high-pressure rinsing during the pretreatment of magnesium alloy waste material; the cleaning effectiveness is excellent, the effectiveness of the removal of impurities from the surface of the magnesium alloy waste material is much better than in conventional processes, and the amount of clean waste material can exceed 90% of the total amount of processed waste material; the clean magnesium alloy waste material obtained from the pretreatment method may be used as the entire raw materials for casting national-standard alloy ingots, the addition of costly high-purity magnesium is unnecessary, and the amount of alloy raw material that must be added is significantly reduced; during processing, little waste material is lost, costs are low, and efficiency is high.
