    摘要: The present invention is a method and apparatus for conveniently and removably sealing inlet ports within an inflatable thermal blanket. In accordance with the present invention a generally planar sheet of material having a plurality of resilient side extensions extending from a central body is used to close an inlet port within an inflatable thermal blanket. In accordance with the preferred invention, the generally circular portion of the central body has a diameter which is slightly smaller than the diameter of the inlet port. Preferably, for extensions extend from the central body each extension being generally circular. Each extension is preferably formed from the same material used to form the central body, and is sufficiently resilient to be easily flexed and to return to an essentially coplanar sheet when released. In accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention, one such extension is inserted into the inlet port, the central body and opposing extension are then bent to allow the opposing extension to be inserted into the inlet port. The result is two opposing extensions extending beyond the diameter of the inlet port at the interior of the port, and two opposing extensions extending beyond the diameter of the inlet port at the exterior of the port.

    摘要: A wound treatment apparatus is provided which includes a bandage that is transparent to, or transmissive of, energy in the infrared (IR) range of the electromagnetic spectrum, a heater that generates heat, and an attachment device for retaining the heater over or on the bandage. The bandage and heater together have a low profile so as to be convenient for a patient, and are flexible so as to conform to the shape of a wound and to contours of the skin near the wound. The bandage is provided with an adhesive pattern for maintaining moisture at the wound site. The heater may maintain a normothermic condition at the wound treatment area. A controller may be provided for cycling the temperature of the heater in order to maintain the normothermic condition.

    摘要: One or more portions of an inflatable thermal blanket that is sized sufficiently to fully cover a patient are gathered and maintained in a non-inflated condition by a closure such that a thermally-controlled inflating medium admitted into the blanket is prevented from being admitted into the gathered portion(s), thereby leaving a primary part of the patient covered and exposing a part of the patient for medical attention. Thereafter the closure can be released to permit the inflating medium to be admitted into the gathered portion such that the gathered portion self-erects and assumes an inflated condition. The released thermal blanket covers the entire patient and bathes the patient in the inflating medium. The closure can be provided as an elongated tape strip with a central perforation that can be separated.

    摘要: An IV fluid warmer that utilizes a warmed airstream supplied through an air hose to heat IV fluid flowing through one or more helically coiled warming tubes positioned within the air hose. In one embodiment, support unit keeps the one or more warming tubes in the air hose, exposed to the warmed airflow. A nozzle provided on the distal end of the air hose has an outer housing and an inner ring slidably positioned therein. The outer housing includes an outer slot and the slidable inner ring includes an inner slot. When aligned, the support unit can be inserted through the inner and outer slots and the inner ring may be rotated to lock the support unit into position within the air hose. In another embodiment, helically coiled warming tube is self-supporting within the air hose. The IV fluid warmer can achieve high heating rates and low flow resistance in this configuration. Furthermore, it can utilize an airstream source of heat such as that conventionally used with inflatable thermal blankets.
