摘要: A device for retaining or confining a magnetically-supported false-twist spindle within the magnetic field supporting it, including the combustion of: A. A base plate having mounting means for positioning and securing the device in proximity to the spindle to be retained; B. A hinge plate secured to the base plate by pivot means for providing pivotal movement of the hinge plate from a vertical position in proximity to the spindle to a horizontal position away from the spindle. The hinge plate terminates at its free end in a shield section which faces and is located in close proximity to, but not touching, the spindle when the hinge plate is in the vertical position; C. A locking lever having a single bend spaced from its medial point and pivotally mounted on the side of the hinge plate away from the spindle, so that the bend functions as a fulcrum. The upper end of the locking lever extends beyond the upper end of the hinge plate, and the lower end of the locking lever is positioned in proximity to an edge of the base plate, as a result of which the lower end of the locking lever rests on the base plate when the upper end of the locking lever is urged away from the spindle and the lower end of the locking lever is raised above the plane of the base plate and beyond an edge thereof when the upper end of the locking lever is urged toward the spindle; and D. Resilient means, which urges the upper end of the locking lever away from the spindle.

摘要: A traveling textile strand or yarn is aligned and guided into and through an open applicator channel, which extends along the length of an elongated face of an elongated polyhedron. Inside the channel the yarn contacts a plurality of ceramic surfaces which are exposed at the base of the channel. Individual liquid components of a liquid treating composition are supplied to the channel at a pre-determined, controlled rate - either separately or in any degree of combination - through apertures in the base of the channel, each aperture being located a small distance above an exposed ceramic surface. Hereby the liquid treating composition is precisely and uniformly applied to the yarn traveling through the channel, and the inconvenience and expense attending the preparation and utilization of stable emulsions of the liquid components are obviated.

摘要: Disclosed is a fabric which avoids the accumulation of high concentrations of static electricity while presenting no appreciable electrocution hazard. The fabric comprises novel continuous laminate filaments each of which has (A) at least one polymeric ply bonded to (B) a ply made of electrically conductive material and having at least one discontinuity along its length.

摘要: An apparatus is described for drawing synthetic yarn and rendering the yarn in condition for immediate crimping. The apparatus which is relatively compact, draws the yarn between a surface roughened draw pin and a heated roll. The yarn is heated to its drawing temperature by frictional contact with the draw pin surface. The apparatus produces an improved yarn in that a preheating stage is not required and the yarn is not permitted to shrink after drawing.

摘要: DISCLOSED IS A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING LAMINATE FILAMENTS WHICH FIND SPECIAL UTILITY IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANTISTATIC FABRICS. A FIRST WEB FORMED OF POLYMERIC MATERIAL, E.G., POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE FILM, AND A TEARABLE SECOND WEB FORMED OF ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE MATERIAL, E.G., ALUMINUM FOIL, ARE LAMINATED INTO A 2-PLY STRUCTURE WITH A STRING INTERPOSED BETWEEN THE PLIES IN A PATH WHICH TRA VERSES THE WIDTH OF THE STRUCTURE AT LEAST ONCE. THE STRING IS SUBSEQUENTLY TORN FROM THE STRUCTURE IN A MANNER WHICH FORMS IN THE ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE PLY A VOID HAVING A CONFIGURATION COINCIDING WITH THE PATH PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED BY THE STRING. THEREUPON THE LAMINATE IS SLIT IN THE DIRECTION OF ITS LENGTH FORMING LAMINATE FILAMENTS, EACH OF THE ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE PLIES OF WHICH HAVING AT LEAST ONE DISCONTINUITY ALONG ITS LENGTH.

摘要: Interfacial surface generating means are disclosed which have an inlet end adapted to receive fluid, and outlet end adapted to discharge fluid, and a plurality of separate passage ways connecting the inlet end and outlet end, the passage ways opening (1) on the inlet end essentially along a first line lying approximately through the center of the inlet end and (2) on the outlet end essentially along a second line lying approximately through the center of the outlet end the second line being essentially normal to the first line. A plurality of the generating means can be used in series to make an interfacial surface generator which will produce many layers within a stream.
