摘要: The cell type of a battery is determined by characterizing the series resistance behavior of various cell types to determine ranges of series resistance values exhibited by batteries of a particular cell type. The series resistance of a battery of unknown cell type is then measured. If the series resistance measurement is determined to be within a range of series resistance values exhibited exclusively by a cell type, the battery is identified as having that cell type. However, for batteries whose series resistance measurements are within a non-exclusive range of series resistance values, a second cell type discharge characteristic such as battery voltage is also characterized to differentiate between the cell types. The second discharge characteristic of these batteries is also measured and used to identify the cell type.

摘要: A method for controlling color bleed between adjacent multi-color ink regions on a print medium is disclosed. Color bleed involves the migration of color agents between adjacent zones in a multicolored printed image on a print medium. A first composition containing a gel-forming species and a color agent is brought into contact on a region of the print medium with a second composition having a color agent and a gel-initiating species or chemical conditions which bring about gelation. In alternative embodiments, the print medium may be pretreated with either a gel-initiating species or a gel-forming species (with no colorant), followed by treatment with a gel-forming species or gel-initiating species (with colorant), respectively. The formation of the gel upon the print medium impedes the movement of the color agent or agents and thus reduces the color bleed between adjacent zones.

摘要: An annotation channel is added to an ECG printout to graphically display the temporal relationship between P, QRS, and T waves. The annotation channel displays similar waves from different ECG channels at vertically adjacent locations so an operator can quickly verify that ECG numerical data generated by the ECG system is derived from ECG signals with reasonably detected onset and offset reference locations. To further simplify wave correlation, a set of reference identifiers are generated along a vertical line at the beginning of the first wave. The reference identifiers provide individual reference points that graphically identify time shifts between the different starting points of each recorded wave.

摘要: An ECG waveform calibration method combines ECG channel calibration pulses to form combined calibration pulses. The combined channel pulses are filtered to select valid combined pulses. The selected combined pulses are correlated to the corresponding channel calibration pulses to determine valid channel calibration pulses from which a correction scale factor is derived. A valid calibration pulse is determined where a correlation between a combined calibration pulse and a corresponding channel calibration pulse is greater than a predetermined correlation value. The valid channel calibration pulses are then characterized. A set of valid channel calibration pulses is selected for each channel based on the characterization to form an average calibration pulse. The average calibration pulse is used to determine a correction scale factor for each channel which is used to scale the actual channel ECG waveform data. The method also includes a step for adjusting the intra-channel skew.

摘要: A method for controlling color bleed in multi-color thermal inkjet printing systems. Color bleed involves the migration of coloring agents between adjacent zones in a multi-color printed image on a substrate. To control color bleed between any two ink compositions in a multi-ink system, at least one of the ink compositions will contain a precipitating agent (e.g. a multi-valent metal salt). The precipitating agent is designed to react with the coloring agent in the other ink composition of concern. As a result, when the two ink compositions come in contact, a precipitate is formed from the coloring agent in the other ink composition which prevents migration thereof and color bleed problems. This technique is applicable to printing systems containing two or more ink compositions, and enables distinct multi-color images to be produced without the problems normally caused by color bleed.

摘要: A poly-p-xylylene coating has been found to demonstrate superior properties as a thermal ink-jet adhesive material in combination with resistor assemblies employed in thermal ink-jet printheads. This material evidences better adhesion for securing the orifice plate to the barrier material used to form the ink firing chambers within the printhead and superior corrosion resistance to thermal ink-jet inks, compared to other coating materials.

摘要: A multi-layer structure, typically semiconductor device, is etched according to a process of the present invention, and meets the above-described existing needs by focusing on the post-etch treatment of the damaged, etched semiconductor device formed thereby. This post-etch treatment is accomplished by exposing the damaged silicon to a forming-gas downstream plasma which results in substantially increased oxide regrowth and significantly higher level of gate oxide quality. In conducting the process of the subject invention from about 1% up to about 15% by volume of H.sub.2, and from about 85 up to about 99% by volume of N.sub.2 are preferably employed as the post etching forming-gas plasma.

摘要: A circuit topology useable in a battery impedance tester to latch a source current to a constant magnitude includes an inductor, a comparator, a driver and a storage capacitor. The inductor is connected in series with a current path between a source and a load. The inductor produces a voltage drop that changes with current drawn by the load. Responsive to the voltage drop, the driver provides the load with current supplied from the storage capacitor. The current provided by the driver returns the source current to the constant magnitude.

摘要: A high efficiency power supply for producing two regulated output voltages (i.e. 3.3 and 5 volts) from an unregulated input voltage. The supply includes a 4-15 volt battery pack, a first (5.0 volt) output, a second (3.3 volt) output, and a ground. The positive terminal of the battery is connected directly to the second output. The 3.3 volt differential with ground is maintained by a voltage regulator that couples the negative terminal of the battery pack to ground (i.e. ground floats relative to the battery). A second voltage regulator couples the positive terminal of the battery pack to the first output, and maintains this first output at 5.0 volts relative to ground. This latter regulator is capable of boost operation, permitting a 5.0 volt output to be maintained even if the battery pack voltage is less than this value. Neither regulator includes a transformer, making the supply particularly well suited for use in miniaturized equipment, such as palmtop computers.
