摘要: A process for desulfurizing catalytically cracked gasoline containing sulfur compounds and olefin components, which comprises the steps of:1) first desulfurizing the catalytically cracked gasoline in the presence of a hydrodesulfurization catalyst at a desulfurization rate of 60 to 90%, a reaction temperature of 200 to 350.degree. C., a hydrogen partial pressure of 5 to 30 kg/cm.sup.2, a hydrogen/oil ratio of 500 to 3,000 scf/bbl, and a liquid hourly space velocity of 2 to 10 1/hr, said first desulfuriing step comprising supplying a feed having a hydrogen sulfide vapor concentration of not more than 0.1% by volume, and2) next desulfurizing the treated oil obtained in the first step in the presence of a hydrodesulfurization catalyst at a desulfurization rate of 60 to 90%, a reaction temperature of 200 to 300.degree. C., a hydrogen partial pressure of 5 to 15 kg/cm.sup.2, a hydrogen/oil ratio of 1,000 to 3,000 scf/bbl, and a liquid hourly space velocity of 2 to 10 1/hr, said second desulfurizing step comprising supplying a feed having a hydrogen sulfide vapor concentration of not more than 0.05% by volume. A reduction in octane number due to hydrogenation of olefin components is minimized while achieving a high desulfurization rate.

The method involves the steps of loading an alkali metal on a thermally treated hydrotalcite carrier represented by formula (I) by an impregnation method using the alkali metal dissolved in liquid ammonia, thermally treating the alkali metal loaded hydrotalcite carrier under vacuum to prepare a catalyst, then reacting an alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon with an aliphatic monoolefin using the catalyst under an atmosphere substantially free of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide gas to alkylate a side chain of the alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon:[M.sup.2+.sub.(1-x) .multidot.M.sup.3+.sub.x (OH).sub.2 ].sup.x+ .multidot.[A.sup.n-.sub.x/n ].sup.x- .multidot.yH.sub.2 O (I)wherein M.sup.2+ represents a divalent metallic cation, M.sup.3+ represents a trivalent metallic cation, A.sup.n- represents an n-valent anion, n=0.1 to 0.5, x=0.1 to 0.5, and y=0 to 8.

摘要: An improvement in an oil filter is provided, the oil filter being of the type which comprise a housing opened at one end thereof, a cylindrical first separator unit disposed in the housing for removing solid contaminants from the oil introduced into the housing, and a second separator unit disposed within the first separator unit for removing gaseous contaminants from the oil that has passed through the first separator unit, the second separator unit including a funnel-shaped cyclone defining a chamber arranged to generate a vortical flow of the oil introduced therein to thereby separate gas-rich oil and a removal pipe extending into the chamber along an axial center thereof for discharging the gas-rich oil. The improvement comprises a wall of the cyclone defining the chamber having a lower portion and an upper portion, and a plurality of pores formed in the lower portion for allowing the oil to flow out of the cyclone. The removal pipe includes an upper end portion positioned above the lower portion of the wall of cyclone, the upper end portion being formed with a plurality of orifices for permitting the gas-rich oil to flow into the removal pipe. The pores and the orifices are arranged in such a manner that they do not overlap with each other in the axial direction of the chamber. The improved oil filter ensures a sufficient and smooth separation of the gaseous contaminants from the oil.

摘要: A process for separating 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene from a 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene-containing mixture which comprises mixing said mixture with a complexing agent selected from the group consisting of bis(1,2,5)thiaziazolotetracyanoquinodimethane, (1,2,5)selenadiazotetrocyanonaphthoquinodimethane, (1,2,5)thiaziazolotetracyanonaphthoquinodimethane, 2,6-dichlorotetracyanoanthraquinodimethene, and 2,6-diiodotetracyanoanthraquinodimethane to thereby form a complex, separating a solid matter containing said complex; and decomposing the solid matter containing the same to thereby separate and collect an oil rich in the 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene. According to this process, 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene can be readily separated at a high selectivity. Further the complexing agent can be readily recovered and reused as such.

摘要: A process for producing a pitch is disclosed. The process involves distilling a heavy petroleum oil under reduced pressure to obtain a distillate, the distillate is hydrogenated to obtain a hydrogenated oil which is subjected to catalytic cracking. The cracked oil is subjected to distillation to obtain a high boiling point fraction having a boiling point of more than 300.degree. C. The high boiling point fraction is subjected to thermal modification in order to obtain the pitch. The pitch can be utilized in order to produce carbon fibers of high quality. By utilizing the process a greater variety of starting materials can be utilized in order to produce the pitch which is utilized to produce high quality carbon fibers.
