Abstract:
A filter element (2) for use in a disc filter (1), wherein a plurality of filter elements (2) are arranged on a rotor shaft (3) in a manner allowing liquid communication between the inside (4) of the filter elements (2) and the inside (5) of the rotor shaft (3), for the filtering of liquids. The filter element (2) includes a framework (6) carrying a filter cloth (7) on both its side surfaces (8), wherein the framework (6) and the filter cloth (7) are permanently joined forming a single use filter element (2) and the filter element has at least one passage (21) in each edge (22) for liquid communication between the inside (4) of adjacent filter elements. A disc filter (1) including a single use filter element (2) is also provided.
Abstract:
A method for supplying compressed air for the operation of moving bed filters by way a compressor is characterized by controlling the pressure of compressed air from the compressor by controlling the rotational speed of the compressor. A system for supplying compressed air is also provided. By use of the described method and system, substantial energy savings of approximately 50 percent can be achieved.
Abstract:
A suspension is delivered to a filter bed comprised of granular filter medium in a continuously working filter at the lower part of the bed and is then permitted to flow upwards through the bed. With the intention of optimizing the capacity of the filter, the suspension is now guided into a central region of the bed. The suspension is divided from this region into at least two specific proportional quantities which are each led from the filter bed in a respective ring-shaped pattern at mutually different heights in relation to the extension of the bed, these ring-shaped patterns having different diameters and each being adapted to the extension of the filter medium in the direction of the diameter.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering liquids, such as fiber suspensions or polluted water, includes a hollow rotating filter body adapted to receive the liquid to be filtered within the body. A plurality of guide members are attached to the filter body and distributed around the latter to receive cloudy filtrate penetrating the filter body at the descending side. A basin is arranged at the descending side of the filter body to collect cloudy filtrate poured from the guide members. As a result, the cloudy filtrate is prevented from mixing with the clear filtrate.
Abstract:
A gas is blown into a filter (1) having a granular filter bed such that the gas flows into the bed along at least one elongate free edge disposed in the bed.
Abstract:
A cleaning system for cleaning a lamella plate settler includes at least one mechanical cleaning device; a suspension device adapted to suspend the mechanical cleaning device; wherein the suspension device includes a displacement device for lowering and raising the at least one mechanical cleaning device for mechanical cleaning of a lamella plate positioned below the cleaning system. By providing a frame supporting the at least one cleaning device; wheels attached to the frame and adapted to move on rails, the wheels including driving wheels and non-driving wheel, and a sensor, preferably an inductive sensor, adapted to sense the rotational position of the driving wheels, the lamella plate settler can be automatically be cleaned without emptying the basin of water, thus allowing cleaning during operation. A lamella plate settler and a method of cleaning a lamella plate are also provided.
Abstract:
A method and a plant for the treatment of water or wastewater having impurities by filtration of the water through two granular media filter stages of the moving bed type operated in series. The method includes the steps of feeding the water/wastewater as a first influent to first stage granular media filters; filtration of the first influent in the first stage granular media filters to produce a first effluent; feeding the first effluent as a second influent to second stage granular media filters; and filtration of the second influent in the second stage granular media filters to produce a second effluent. The second stage granular media filters are operated with intermittent washing of the granular filter media.
Abstract:
A filter element for use in a filter disc, wherein a plurality of filter elements are arranged on a rotor shaft in a manner allowing liquid communication between the inside of the filter elements and the inside of the rotor shaft. The filter element has at least one passage in an edge structure for liquid communication between the inside of adjacent filter elements when the filter elements are assembled forming a filter disc. The passage has different passage area along the edge structure.
Abstract:
An apparatus for treating sludge, comprises a press for dewatering the sludge, a compaction device for receiving and compacting sludge dewatered by the press, a shredder for receiving and shredding sludge compacted by the compaction device, and a tube conveyor for conveying shredded sludge from the shredder. The press is controlled to vary the flow rate of the sludge in response to at least one sensed operational parameter of the press, such as the momentary power for operating the press, pressure in the sludge in the press, sludge concentration in the press, sludge feed flow to the press or separated water flow from the press.
