Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for separating solids from liquid in a slurry. The process is characterized by using two filtration media. One filtration medium contains less than 10 mm in thickness of a filter cake containing the solids, and the other filtration medium contains at least 10 mm in thickness of a filter cake containing the solids. The second filtration medium has a higher separation efficiency that the first filtration medium. The process is particularly useful for separating terephthalic acid solids from an oxidation product slurry.
Abstract:
A cartridge type filter is mounted in a housing and is serviced through the top of the housing. The cartridge includes first and second media packs axially stacked. The second media pack is in series behind the first media pack, and filters a portion of the liquid therethrough. The second media pack has a higher efficiency than the first media pack. The overall design has a drain system which allows liquid to drain from the interior of the filter housing and back to the sump before the filter cartridge is completely removed from the housing. Other optional features include an oil cooler, various valving, and a filter cartridge lockout mechanism.
Abstract:
A filter assembly and method of manufacturing the same is provided that uses an inductive heating system to secure a heat sensitive filter media to a plastic base. A metal disc is arranged between the plastic base and filter media with adhesive material arranged between the filter media and metal disc. The metal disc is excited using an inductive heating system to heat and care the adhesive material without damaging the filter media.
Abstract:
A filter module for an automotive fuel supply system includes a housing, a filter mounted in the housing, a pressure regulator conduit mounted in the housing, and a pressure regulator. The housing includes a module inlet and a module outlet. The filter is in fluid communication with the module inlet and the module outlet. The pressure regulator conduit includes a regulator inlet in fluid communication with the filter, regulator outlet, and a receptacle in fluid communication with the regulator inlet and the regulator outlet. The pressure regulator extends into the void between the first surface of the receptacle and the second surface of the receptacle.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge configured to provide two or more levels of fluid filtration or conditioning from within a single filter cartridge is disclosed, the filter cartridge including a housing that defines an interior cavity and has an inlet portion for receiving fluid into the cavity, a first outlet portion for discharging fluid from the housing, and a second outlet portion for discharging fluid from the housing. The filter cartridge also includes a first stage filter disposed within the interior cavity for conditioning fluid passing therethrough, the first stage filter in fluid communication with the inlet portion and the first outlet portion by way of a first flow path, and a second stage filter disposed within the interior cavity of the housing for conditioning fluid passing therethrough, the second stage filter in fluid communication with the inlet portion and the second outlet portion by way of a second flow path.
Abstract:
A fuel filter assembly includes a housing having an end supporting a first tube. The housing defines a cavity that is enclosed by a cover opposite the end. A diverter is arranged within the cavity and includes first and second sides with the first side adjacent to the housing end. The diverter includes a wall on the first side in sealing engagement with either the first tube or the housing end. The diverter is constructed from a first material forming a base and a second material supported by the first material defining at least a portion of the first side. The second material may be overmolded onto the first material. Preferably, the first material is a plastic and the second material is an elastomer forming a gasket suitable for providing a seal between the diverter and the housing. One end of the filter media is embedded in the adhesive on the second side of the diverter.

Abstract:
Flat, stackable filter disk elements include a deep bed filter material for removing particulates from a flow of unfiltered fluid and thereby obtain a filtered fluid. The filter material has a thickness extending between a pair of major parallel planar surfaces which define a filter element plane, and include a first flow openings for the filtered fluid, a second flow opening for unfiltered fluid, and a collection opening for collecting one of the filtered and unfiltered fluids. The collection opening and the first and second flow openings extend through the filter material between the planar surfaces. The first and second flow openings also respectively define first and second flow surfaces for the filtered and unfiltered fluids which are substantially perpendicular to the filter element plane and which establish a fluid flow path between the first and second flow openings through the filter material which is substantially parallel to the filter element plane. Each of the first and second flow openings includes an open end and a closed end, wherein open ends of one of the first and second flow openings being connected to the collection opening, and open ends of the other of the first and second flow openings being unconnected to the collection opening. The boundary surfaces of the first and second flow openings define the flow surfaces for the filtered and unfiltered material, respectively. Most preferably, each of the first and second flow openings include a stiffening bridge disposed between the open and closed ends thereof that extends across a width dimension of the respective first and second flow openings and across at least a portion of a thickness of the filter material and depth of the respective first and second flow openings.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a filtration device for deep-bed filtration which is easier to handle and enables filter module(s) to be changed and disposed of easily. The filtration device has a casing with at least one filter module (1) inserted in the casing with filter elements (10, 10null, 10anull, 10bnull) made from deep-bed filter materials stacked on top of each other. The filter elements have at least one internal structure (17) formed by a perforation (20) wherein the boundary surface of the perforation (20) formed by the deep-bed filter materials (12) creates a through-flow surface (11) for filtrates or non-filtrates. At least one end plate (52, 53) has at least one inlet and/or outlet.
