    摘要: A metallurgical ladle, and more particularly the bottom of the ladle or a ladle block in the bottom of the ladle, have an outlet through which the molten metal can drain. The ladle bottom contains an open-end channel bounded by at least one wall with a major dimension perpendicular to a line joining the center of the outlet entrance to the center of the wall. In selected configurations, opposing faces of the walls bounding the open-end channel are convex in the horizontal plane and concave in the horizontal plane, respectively.

The purge plug houses a retention chamber for holding the lead content of lead-containing molten steel alloys that leaches into, or infiltrates into, the purge plug. The purging gas supply tube is provided with a portion that protrudes into the retention chamber, thereby preventing the lead content of lead-containing molten steel alloys from entering and blocking the purging gas supply tube.

    摘要: An inner nozzle is capable of being mounted onto a tube exchange device for holding and replacing an exchangeable pouring nozzle for casting molten metal out of a vessel. The tube exchange device is constructed of a frame with a casting opening. The frame is configured to be fixed to the lower side of a metal casting vessel and has a first, upper portion and a second, lower portion, joining at a middle section plane defining the plane where an inner nozzle and an exchangeable pouring nozzle form a sliding contact. The upper side portion of the frame receives and clamps in place a bearing surface of an inner nozzle at its pouring position. The lower portion comprises elements for loading and moving along a first direction (X) into casting position an exchangeable pouring nozzle. At least two clamping elements are arranged transverse to the first direction (X).

    摘要: Conveyor rolls used in high temperature applications, and an end cap assembly for such rolls. The conveyor roll comprises a ceramic spool, an end cap and a tolerance ring. The end cap contains a metal ferrule and has an internal circumference adapted to fit over an end of the ceramic spool. A tolerance ring is interposed between each end of the ceramic spool and the end cap. The tolerance ring is composed of resilient metal having a plurality of circumferentially arranged corrugations. The conveyor roll can resist temporary overheating or blockage without damage.

The ladle block reduces the amount of contaminants, particularly slag, exiting the ladle during casting operations. The ladle block includes a floor defining an outlet and sidewalls substantially orthogonal to the floor. The floor and sidewalls define a channel having dimensions of length, width and height. Channel dimensions are determined from the Froude number, which is based at least partially on the casting flow rate.

    摘要: The invention relates to a crucible for the crystallization of silicon and to the preparation and application of release coatings for crucibles used in the handling of molten materials that are solidified in the crucible and then removed as ingots, and more particularly to release coatings for crucibles used in the solidification of polycrystalline silicon. The objective of the inventor was to provide a crucible which does not require the preparation of a very thick coating at the end user facilities, which is faster and cheaper to produce and which presents a stronger coating with an improved adherence to the walls. It has now been found that these problems can be solved with a crucible for the crystallization of silicon comprising a) a base body comprising a bottom surface and side walls defining an inner volume; b) an intermediate layer comprising 50 to 100 wt. % of silica at the surface of the side walls facing the inner volume; and c) a surface layer comprising 50 to 100 wt. % of silicon nitride, up to 50 wt. % of silicon dioxide and up to 20 wt % of silicon on the top of the intermediate layer.

    摘要: A refractory roll cover is described that reduces the amount of noxious dust during the production of glass sheet. The roll cover comprises a plurality of segments, including low dusting millboard segments mechanically supported by highly rigidized compressed fiber segments. The millboard segments are adapted to contact the glass sheet. The millboard is chosen so that any dust produced has little affinity for the glass sheet or is not easily fluidized by convective currents. The highly rigidized compressed fiber has a fused surface that releases little dust. The resultant roll cover substantially eliminates dusting while providing a mechanically superior roll cover.
