    摘要: A misalignment connector for large pipelines, conductor pipes or the like, includes an internal, metal seal ring having an external spherical periphery which is axially and circumferentially loaded between opposed internal spherical surfaces of connector structures which are operable by hydraulic piston and cylinder means to be interconnected over a range of angular misalignment. The internal sealing ring is preloaded when the connector parts are secured together. Initially, the internal sealing ring is supported in or nearly in engagement with one of the companion spherical surfaces of the connector parts for proper engagement and angular motion upon the interconnection of the connector parts over the permissible angular range of misalignment. The connector is made up by the application of fluid pressure to the actuator cylinder and piston means after the connector parts have been stabbed together. Radially shiftable locking elements are wedged towards one another by the action of the actuator cylinders. In some forms, the locking elements themselves have spherical surfaces engageable with a spherical surface of a connector hub. In another form, the locking member acts against a ring to urge the ring by camming means therebetween to force a spherical surface of the locking ring into engagement with the spherical surface of the hub.

    摘要: A pipe connector has a pin initially stabbed into a box, the pin and box then being axially loaded together at confronting transverse surfaces while the pin and box are pressurized to expand the box and compress the pin, so that when the pressure is relieved a pressure energized shrink fit is provided and the connector is rendered rigid to enhance tensile, compressive and bending strength and provide a fluid tight joint useful in making up lengths of pipe such as piles and pipelines. A lock ring holds the connector against axial separation to maintain the pin under axial compression and maintain the box under axial tension.

    摘要: Running apparatus is releasably connected to a packing assembly, the combination being lowered on a tubular running string until the packing assembly is disposed between a hanger body and a surrounding wellhead underlying a body of water. The apparatus is operated by pressure fluid supplied through the running string and reaction is taken on the closed blowout preventer rams to effect setting of the packing in the annular space between the hanger body and wellhead. The apparatus is rotated relative to the packing to lock the packing in place, the apparatus then being released from the packing assembly for retrieval to the drilling rig at the water surface.

    摘要: A tubing hanger, from which multiple tubing strings are suspended, is seated in a subsea well head or casing hanger, being properly oriented with respect to a running tool by means of which the tubing hanger is lowered from a drilling vessel to seat in the casing hanger. The tubing hanger has an oval passage adapted to pass a tubing string with side pocket mandrels used for gas lift or other purposes, the tubing string being supported from an oval mandrel adapted to seat within the oval passage. The running tool is properly oriented relative to a guidance system as a reference point, the guidance system extending from the subsea floor to the drilling vessel, resulting in the multiple string tubing hanger and its several passages, including the oval passage, being properly oriented with respect to the guidance system. A locator assembly is then lowered to the tubing hanger and properly oriented with respect to its several passages, to subsequently guide the tubing string with the side pocket mandrels through the oval passage into the well bore, the oval hanger seating within the oval passage. The oval hanger has a fluid passage providing communication between regions above and below the tubing hanger.

The volume of the gaseous medium for pressurizing the hydraulic fluid can be changed in order to vary the spring-like rate of the gaseous medium.

    摘要: An underwater tubular connector having a primary seal and a secondary seal for preventing leakage through the connector between its interior and exterior. Both seals are effected automatically in response to bringing companion connector members into coupled relation, any trapped fluid between the seals being permitted to escape through a hydraulic monitoring line extending to a vessel floating at the water surface, the monitoring line also being usable for applying fluid pressure to the region between the seals to test them for leakage. A valve controlled from the vessel determines the flow of fluid through the monitoring line, selectively permitting or preventing flow of fluid from the region between the seals through the monitoring line to control and sensing devices on the vessel, to enable such region to be continuously or selectively monitored and fluid to escape therefrom to prevent its being trapped.
