    摘要: A phase shifter utilizing a circulator and electronic switches to change the length of a transmission line is disclosed. More specifically, a section of transmission line terminated in a short circuit is coupled to one port of a circulator. Energy exiting the port is reflected by the short circuited transmission line to introduce a phase delay in the signal. A PIN diode is utilized to provide a switchable short across the transmission line to reduce its electrical length thereby reducing the phase delay.

    摘要: Disclosed is an improvement on a method of making an electrode wherein a suspension in a liquid is prepared of a powdered catalyst containing a noble metal, carbon powder and a binder, and the suspension is poured over a carbon substrate dried, compressed and sintered to form a solid catalyst layer bonded to the carbon substrate. The improvement is placing a carbon paper on the catalyst layer prior to compressing. The improved electrode can be used as either a cathode or an anode in a sulfur dioxide depolarized electrolyzer in a process for producing hydrogen from water.

    摘要: A numerically controlled oscillator that outputs a complex exponential value (sine and cosine). The numerically controlled oscillator inputs a scalar phase increment and uses the scalar phase increment to approximate a complex exponential phasor increment. A complex multiplier multiplies the exponential increment by an exponential value previously output from the oscillator to yield a multiplication result. A recursive amplitude normalizer, connected to the complex multiplier, normalizes the multiplication result to yield the complex exponential value.

    摘要: A classifier employing general frame wavelets for improving target recognition while decreasing computational intensity is disclosed. A wavelet selection means compares a portion of a time dependent input signal from a receiver with a set of sample wavelets, each wavelet being bandpass limited, locally supported, and mean zero, and selects a prototype wavelet resembling the input portion. A resolving means expands the prototype wavelet onto a basis of wavelet functions having variations in scale and delay, and resolves the input signal onto the basis of functions. A regionpass filter identifies a region from a grid of resolved coefficients that contains features of a target from the input signal and discards coefficients outside the region. A separability filter passes select coefficients from a scale band within the identified region where separability among known targets is high. A comparator compares the selected coefficients with an exemplar of known targets to indicate a recognition of the target.

The system comprises a plurality, M, of channels, each of the channels collecting the incoming signal and generating a plurality, L, of incoming complex data samples for the incoming signal and a plurality, L, of known complex data samples for the known signal. The system also includes severaly digital beamforming means for forming the receive beam. Each of the digital beamforming means includes means, coupled to the channels, for computing an M by 1 weight vector, W, having several weight elements each corresponding to one of the channels, the computing means including means for solving, for W, the equation, R W=C, where R is an M by M coefficient matrix, an element in the i-th row and the j-th column being an estimate of a value obtained from cross-correlating the incoming complex data sample generated by the i-th channel with the incoming complex data sample of the j-th channel, and where C is an M by 1 constant vector, an element in the i-th row being an estimate of a value obtained from cross-correlating the incoming complex data sample generated by the i-th channel with the known complex data samples. Each of the digital beamforming means further includes multipliers for generating weighted signals, each of the multipliers coupled to a corresponding one of the channels and multiplying one of the weight elements by the incoming complex data samples generated by the corresponding channel, and an adder, coupled to the multipliers, for adding each of the weighted signals.
