摘要: Methods and systems are disclosed to operate an aircraft with modified (e.g., improved) flight performance characteristics, such as increased or maximized aircraft takeoff weight and/or longer allowable mission time for the aircraft. In one example, the aircraft may be enabled to operate with increased aircraft engine performance (e.g., such as engine power) without increasing engine temperature above the maximum allowable operating temperature limits for the engine. In a further example, available engine power may be determined during a pre-flight sequence, and utilized by an aircraft without exceeding published or manufacturer specified engine temperature limits.

摘要: Embodiments of apparatuses and methods are provided herein for characterizing a heat pipe, and for controlling an operating parameter of at least one heat generating component thermally coupled to the heat pipe based on a temperature difference measured across a first section and a second section of the heat pipe. For example, a characterization method is provided for determining at least one threshold value, which can be used to predict heat pipe dry-out within the heat pipe, and a thermal time constant (time lag) between the onset of heat pipe dry-out and a heat pipe dry-out limit. During subsequent system operation, the predetermined threshold value and thermal time constant may be used to extend the performance of the heat pipe to the edge of its cooling capacity.

摘要: In one embodiment, an improved gas analysis system having a gas flow cell is provided. In another embodiment an improved gas flow cell is provided. As disclosed herein, dead volumes in a gas flow channel of a gas flow cell may be minimized through the use of one or more additional gas inlets. In one embodiment, an additional gas inlet is located between an analyte gas inlet and a light entrance optical coupling of the gas flow cell. In another embodiment, an additional gas inlet is located between an analyte gas outlet and a light exit optical coupling of the gas flow cell. In addition, enclosed regions may be formed adjacent seals of the gas flow channel of the gas flow cell. The enclosed regions may be evacuated and/or purged so as to minimize the passage of contaminants through the seals into the gas flow channel.

摘要: Proximity sensing antenna systems include two metallic antenna arms. One antenna arm is connected to an RF transmitter at a radio frequency (RF) feed port, and the other antenna arm is connected to an RF detector (e.g., RF measurement receiver or RF power detector) at an RF sense port. The metallic antenna arms are symmetrically positioned with respect to each other across one or more symmetry axes. The metallic antenna arms can be implemented as inverted-L antennas, dipole antennas, inverted-F antennas, and/or as other antenna arm configurations. Further, the antenna arms can be dimensionally identical and positioned symmetrically about one or more symmetry axes. The antenna system can be used within proximity sensing devices for a wide variety of applications including low power sensing and can also be used for wireless data communication.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to hide operating system kernel data in system management mode memory. An information handling system includes a system memory, central processing unit (CPU), and Basic Input Output System (BIOS). The CPU is operable in a system management mode and is programmable to specify an SMM region of the system memory that is only accessible when the CPU is operating in the SMM. The BIOS is programmed to save kernel data from a non-SMM region of the system memory to the SMM region and then clear the kernel data from the non-SMM region in response to an operating system (OS) generating a system management interrupt (SMI) and to restore the kernel data to the non-SMM region of the system memory from the SMM region in response to the OS generating a SMI.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for spur mitigation for pulse signal drivers in radio frequency (RF) devices. An RF integrated circuit includes RF circuitry and analog-to-digital (ADC) circuitry. The RF circuitry operates using a local oscillator (LO) clock to receive and/or transmit RF signals, and the ADC circuitry samples one or more analog input signals and has internal timing based upon a raw digital clock. A retime circuit receives the raw digital clock and the LO clock and has a retimed clock as an output. The retimed clock represents the raw digital clock retimed with the LO clock. While other digital circuitry is timed using the raw digital clock, one or more drivers are timed by the retimed clock and provide pulse output signals to output pads. Having the drivers timed with the retimed clock and other digital circuitry timed with the raw digital clock improves overall performance.

摘要: A hinge assembly for a portable information handling system (IHS) includes an upper hinge axle coupled to a lid of the portable IHS, a lower hinge axle coupled to a base of the portable IHS, and a hinge cover encompassing the upper and lower hinge axles. A fulcrum foot provided on the hinge cover contacts a support surface when the lid is rotated to a first usage angle, and continues to support the portable IHS on the support surface as the lid is rotated further through a wide range of usage angles. When the lid is rotated beyond the first usage angle, a rear portion of the base lifts away from the support surface, and conceals an increasing greater portion of a lower bezel surrounding a display screen of the portable IHS. To reduce the amount of lift, internal components of the hinge assembly are offset by an angle θ of about 10°-20° from a vertical axis.
