摘要: A method and system for replicating database data is provided. One or more standby database replicas can be used for servicing read-only queries, and the amount of storage required is scalable in the size of the primary database storage. One technique is described for combining physical database replication to multiple physical databases residing within a common storage system that performs de-duplication. Having multiple physical databases allows for many read-only queries to be processed, and the de-duplicating storage system provides scalability in the size of the primary database storage. Another technique uses one or more diskless standby database systems that share a read-only copy of physical standby database files. Notification messages provide consistency between each diskless system's in-memory cache and the state of the shared database files. Use of a transaction sequence number ensures that each database system only accesses versions of data blocks that are consistent with a transaction checkpoint.

摘要: A mechanism is disclosed for assigning repeaters to signal paths in an integrated circuit design. The mechanism involves reserving, in a first metal layer of the integrated circuit design, metal tracks for routing signals. Access points to a plurality of repeaters are reserved in a second metal layer of the integrated circuit design. Each access point is associated with a particular repeater. The design may have other layers between the second metal layer and a region reserved for the repeaters. The number of repeaters may be based on the number of metal tracks that are available to route signals through the first region. Signal paths are assigned routes that comprise at least a portion of one or more of the metal tracks. A route from signal paths requiring a repeater to access points to a particular repeater is determined. Thus, the signal paths are assigned to a repeater.

摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for modifying a subscription of a subscriber to a telecommunications service based on subscriber information and service information that are stored in a directory repository. A directory-enabled service selection framework is coupled to the directory repository for receiving stored information therefrom. The directory-enabled service selection framework receives a request to identify one or more services to which a subscriber is subscribed, based on a prior request to modify the subscription of the subscriber to the telecommunications service. A list is generated of the one or more services to which the subscriber is currently subscribed, based on group membership of the subscriber, one or more roles occupied by the subscriber, and authorization information associated with the subscriber that is stored in the directory repository. Individual service information is generated for each of the one or more services in the list, based on subscriber information and service information that is stored in the directory repository, for use in automatically subscribing the subscriber to a service that is represented by the individual service information. Accordingly, using user information and service information in a directory, a user is automatically subscribed to network services and logged into services.

摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for managing network devices using a parsable string that conforms to a specified grammar. The parsable string is used to represent locations of entities and is called an entity location specifier. The grammar may conform to Augmented Backus-Naur Form (ABNF). The entity location specifier comprises one or more location elements taken from a superset of location elements needed to specify the locations of entities for network device platforms. The superset of location elements can include both physical and logical entities. As a result, a network management application can retrieve a description of entities and elements contained in a network device using a single request, and can receive a single string value that is parsable to identify individual entities or elements in the device.

摘要: An approach is provided for fabricating probe elements for probe card assemblies. Embodiments of the invention include using a reusable substrate, a reusable substrate with layered probe elements and a reusable substrate with a passive layer made of a material that does not adhere well to probe elements formed thereon. Examples of probe elements include, without limitation, a cantilever probe element, a vertically-oriented probe element, and portions of probe elements, e.g., a beam element of a cantilever probe element. Probe elements, or portions of probe elements, may be formed using any of a number of electroforming or plating processes such as, for example, plating using masking techniques, e.g., using lithographic techniques such as photolithography, stereolithography, X-ray lithography, etc.

摘要: A method for generating compressed correlation key values for use in correlating alarms generated by network elements in a telecommunications network is disclosed. An alarm message generated by a network element is received. A context value in the alarm message is identified. A table that associates context values to correlation key value formulas is maintained. A formula specifying how to generate the correlation key value is retrieved from the table. Each formula may specify, for an associated context value, one or more ordinal positions of fields in the alarm message, a concatenation of which yields the correlation key value. The correlation key value is created based on the formula. A unique ordinal number is generated to represent the correlation key value, which acts as a context key. The alarm message and correlation key value are sent to an external system for use in correlating alarms.

摘要: A system and method for providing cooperative resource groups for high availability applications, such as cluster databases, is described. A cluster framework, including a plurality of nodes, is built. A plurality of cooperative resource groups is formed, each including a logical network address, at least one monitor and an application providing services and externally accessed using the logical network address. A plurality of resources is structured, each including a cluster service supporting the services provided by each application. A preferred node for execution is designated for each cooperative resource group and one or more possible nodes are provided as standby nodes for each other cooperative resource group. The services are restarted on a surviving node off a critical path of the preferred node upon an unavailability of the preferred node, while the logical network address is kept available on each possible node for the cooperative resource group.
