    摘要: A lighting system for generating pre-determined beam-pattern comprises a reflector body for reflecting the light forwardly thereof, an optical means for receiving and transmitting said reflected light, a discharge lamp and a lamp base. The discharge lamp is positioned between the reflector body and the optical means. The discharge lamp comprises a sealed discharge vessel made of ceramic light-transmitting material and contains an ionizable fill. The discharge lamp has at least one leg, a pair of spaced-apart electrodes within the discharge vessel between which an electric discharge is developed when the lamp is operated. The lamp base provides for supporting and positioning the discharge lamp, and includes contact elements for connecting the discharge lamp to an operating circuit.

    摘要: A high intensity discharge lamp comprising a discharge vessel having a wall enclosing a discharge space, an ionizable material contained in said space, and at least two electrodes each having an embedded portion and an electrode shaft extending from the wall of the discharge vessel and ending with a tip of the electrode, the electrodes being arranged in said space for establishment of an electric arc between said tips. Each of the electrode shafts of the electrodes comprises a thickened portion arranged between the embedded portion and the tip of the electrode, a first shaft section extending between the embedded portion and the thickened portion, the first shaft section having a first length and a first shaft diameter, and a second shaft section extending between the thickened portion and the tip of the electrode, the second shaft section having a second length and a second shaft diameter. The thickened portion has a greater overall diameter than any of the first and second shaft diameters thereby having a higher specific surface than the specific surface of the first shaft section and the specific surface of the second shaft section, respectively, and being arranged to limit the temperature of the electrode shaft at the inner wall by heat dissipation. The thickened portion has a minimum distance from the inner wall of at least 50% of the first shaft diameter, the length of the second shaft section is at least 100% of the second shaft diameter, and the first length is at most equal to the second length.

    摘要: A high intensity discharge lamp comprises an arc tube, which encloses an arc chamber. The arc chamber contains a gas fill and the arc tube is terminated by at least one sealed portion. The sealed portions enclose an electrode assembly. The electrode assembly comprises an electrode, a lead-in wire and an electrically conducting foil. The electrode extends into the arc chamber. The lead-in wire extends outward from the sealed portion for providing electric contact with a power supply. The electrically conducting foil connects the lead-in wire and the electrode and provides a sealed electric connection through a sealed portion of the arc tube. At least one of the electrodes is provided with surface irregularities in a region between the foil and the arc chamber in order to control shape and size of cracks in a seal wall surrounding the electrodes.In the method, an electrode of predetermined geometry and structure is provided with at least one artificial surface irregularity. Subsequently, an electrode assembly comprising said electrode, a seal foil and a lead-in wire is prepared. The electrode assembly is introduced into an arc chamber, the arc chamber is closed with a seal, and the electrode assembly is sealed therein, so that the irregularities of the electrode are formed in a region between the foil and the arc chamber. The electrodes may be provided with artificial surface irregularities also after preparing the electrode assembly.
