摘要： A system of punching, transferring, shearing, stacking, and/or forming is employed. An interface transferring mechanism is integrally provided on the punching apparatus and has a secondary workpiece gripping clamp alignable with the primary workpiece gripping clamps of the punching apparatus. A pivotal arm supports the secondary workpiece gripping clamp and is operable to pivot the workpiece off the workpiece supporting table of the punching apparatus and onto a stacking mechanism, shearing table, forming apparatus or the like. When used with the shearing apparatus, the secondary workpiece gripping clamp can be fed toward the shearing blade by the workpiece positioning means of the punching apparatus. An automatic folding machine includes a transfer table suitable for moving the workpiece to an inclined workpiece supporting surface on the folding machine. The transfer table includes retractable frictional conveyor belts that control movement of the workpiece so that it may be raised to an inclined position and positively fed at a controlled rate onto the inclined supporting surface.

摘要： A punching apparatus is provided with a tool holder that has integral upper and lower arms. The upper and lower arms are provided with punches and dies, respectively. In one form, a smaller punch and die set is spaced longitudinally behind a larger punch and die set and laterally offset in a direction toward the work sheet clamps. In another form, the smaller punch and die set is spaced longitudinally forward in a direction toward the work sheet clamps and laterally offset from the larger punch and die set. The tool holder is extendable longitudinally and laterally to accurately align either the large punch and die set or the smaller punch and die set beneath a striker. In one form, the upper arm is recessed closely adjacent the smaller punch to reduce interference with the work sheet clamps. In both forms, the tool holder can also be extended further to a tool changing position.

摘要： A workpiece from which multiple parts are to be separated is provided with tabs placed in the workpiece during numerically controlled punching operation. The tabs extend from the body of the workpiece and are provided with two cut edges parallel to each other and to lines of division for separating the part from the workpiece. Shearing of the part from the workpiece is accomplished by positioning the workpiece relative to the shearing knife by the use of the edges of the tabs. A die having parallel edges spaced apart the same distance as the edges of the tab is aligned with a shearing knife. A single tab placed in the die will position the workpiece along an axis and will restrict rotation of the workpiece. The tab will be removed when the part is sheared from the workpiece. The article is thus a flat piece of metal provided with a plurality of tabs positioned along lines of division of the parts to be separated from the workpiece with the long edges of the tabs overlying lines of division so that the tabs are separated from the article as parts are removed.

摘要： A unitized tapping head is incorporated into the turret of a multiple-tool punch press. The tapping head includes a unique replaceable cartridge which houses a tap and a feed lead screw. A self-contained drive unit rotates the cartridge to advance the tap at the same lead as the threads on the feed lead screw. The cartridge is held only by a simple spring clip and thus is easily replaced with the same or a different combination tap and corresponding feed lead screw.

The blanks are pushed from out beneath the die by a reciprocable pusher and ejected into a discharge chute. A hollow cylinder supporting the lower turret at the punching station is provided with an opening of a diameter large enough to accommodate the largest slug to be punched but the opening is considerably smaller than the blanks to be cut and thus minimizes the area that the lower turret is unsupported.

摘要： A unitized tooling has a punch guide extending down a substantial distance from an upper arm of a C-frame type holder into close adjacency to a workpiece supporting surface on the bottom arm of the holder. The thickness of the punch guide along the longitudinal length or throat depth of the holder is substantially less than the thickness of the punch guide at right angles to the throat depth so that structural workpieces such as angles or channels having legs at right angles to one another can be punched with the leg facing up and with the leg positioned on either side of the punch guide. A second embodiment includes a lower arm of a C-frame type holder which includes an upwardly extending die holder of a thickness along the longitudinal length of the holder substantially less than the thickness of the die holder at right angles to the longitudinal length of the holder in a manner similar to that of the punch guide so that I-bars or the like can be punched close to their end legs.
