摘要: A punching apparatus is provided with a tool holder that has integral upper and lower arms. The upper and lower arms are provided with punches and dies, respectively. In one form, a smaller punch and die set is spaced longitudinally behind a larger punch and die set and laterally offset in a direction toward the work sheet clamps. In another form, the smaller punch and die set is spaced longitudinally forward in a direction toward the work sheet clamps and laterally offset from the larger punch and die set. The tool holder is extendable longitudinally and laterally to accurately align either the large punch and die set or the smaller punch and die set beneath a striker. In one form, the upper arm is recessed closely adjacent the smaller punch to reduce interference with the work sheet clamps. In both forms, the tool holder can also be extended further to a tool changing position.

摘要: A punch press is provided with turrets having radially spaced tools and a radially shiftable striker for selectively engaging the tools. The striker is carried by a transport mechanism which is shifted by powered means and is vertically slideable relative to the powered means. The powered means include two radially spaced cylinders each containing a piston. A fixed piston rod is connected to the radially inner piston and a moveable piston rod is connected to the radially outer piston and to the transport means. Accurate positioning of the striker is obtained by controlling the relative positions of the pistons and cylinders. The transport means holds the striker for free relative upward movement. A shear plate is positioned over the striker and a backup plate is positioned over the shear plate. The backup plate contains openings for receiving a slug cut from the shear plate by the striker to relieve the striker when overloaded.

摘要: A side feeding shearing apparatus is provided with an upper frame having a side opening to allow sheets to be swung between the shear punch and die to position the sheet for feeding past the shear punch. The shear punch is positioned below the sheet supporting surface of the shearing apparatus and is raised for shearing the sheets. Sheets are delivered to the shearing apparatus by a transfer mechanism that includes a base secured to an adjacent N.C. punch press. An arm which clamps the sheet is pivotally mounted on the base and the arm is accurately aligned on the base by a shot pin and corresponding aperture. Movement of the sheet through the shearing apparatus is provided by the sheet positioning means of the N.C. punch press.

摘要: A punch drive converts rotary motion from a power source in one embodiment into one-speed reciprocation or in another embodiment into selective two-speed reciprocation of a punch. In the latter embodiment the slower speed of reciprocation is provided by rolling a plurality of primary thrust balls between a rotating gear and a reciprocating primary wave thrust ring. The wave thrust ring has three cam waves which cause the thrust ring to be reciprocated downwardly as the balls roll thereover. The thrust ring is coupled through a clutch mechanism to the punch. The second speed is provided by a rotatable nibbling drive collar and a reciprocating nibbling wave thrust ring having a plurality of nibbling thrust balls therebetween. The nibbling wave thrust ring is provided with nine cam waves which cause reciprocation of the nibbling wave thrust ring as the thrust balls are rolled thereover. The nibbling wave thrust ring is also coupled to the punch. The rate of downward movement of the thrust rings is determined by the slope angles of the forward surfaces of the cam waves.

摘要: A pneumatic-hydraulic control is coupled with either a manually or numerically controlled punch press to rotate the turrets of the press to the proper positions. Pneumatic pressure is directed selectively to one of two fluid accumulators to force fluid from that accumulator through an open deceleration valve to drive a piston which in turn is coupled to a rack and pinion drive for rotating the turrets. The other side of the piston is exhausted through an open deceleration valve to the other fluid accumulator. A slider switch having a central stop contactor and two deceleration contactors is secured to the rack and moves with the rack across a linear multi-contact slidebar. One of the contactors on the slidebar corresponding with the desired station on the turret is energized. A deceleration contactor engaging the energized contact closes the deceleration valve of the driving fluid accumulator forcing the fluid to go through a restricted passage thus decelerating the turret drive. The stop contactor engaging the energized contact exhausts both fluid accumulators to stop the turret drive.
