    摘要: To maintain a constant pressure in the combustion chamber of a rocket engine, which operates with either liquid and/or metallized propellants, a cooled throat pintle assembly is provided to vary the throat area in an E-D nozzle. The pintle design is a composite structure consisting of a Columbium alloy central rod member having in its cylindrical and injector portions a Grafoil intermediate layer and a Carbitex outer layer. The throat portion of the pintle assembly consists of stacked pyrolytic graphite washers having a spiral formed coolant passages. The throat, cylindrical, and injector portions of the pintle are gas film cooled with fuel-rich gases that are ducted through the center of the pintle from a pressurization system gas generator. The injector or forward end of the pintle is cooled by a gas film exiting from the pintle housing. The throat portion of the pintle is cooled by gases exiting through spiral grooves in the washers.

    摘要: An electromechanical control valve in which a poppet is magnetically biased against a valve seat and is mechanically unseated upon decrease of the magnetic moment. A suspension plate carries the poppet on one side thereof and an armature on the other side to constitute an integrated assembly. A permanent magnet attracts the armature to thereby bias the poppet against the seat and deform the suspension plate. A coil is disposed on the armature and, when energized, develops a magnetic potential in opposition to the magnetic potential of the permanent magnet to thereby decrease the permanent magnet attraction whereby the deformed suspension plate, acting as a spring, urges the poppet out of the seat. The coil can be disposed so as to positively attract the armature through the null point to an opposite poll. The suspension plate also serves to isolate the magnetic circuit from the poppet-seat area.

    摘要: An electromechanical control valve in which a poppet is biased against a seat therefor within an enclosing chamber having inlet and outlet ports and which is balanced against fluid pressure forces. Oppositely disposed walls of the chamber are deformable and a force-transmitting rod carries the poppet between such deformable walls whereby displacement of the poppet causes deformation of the walls to urge the poppet in the opposite direction. A system geometry is utilized which takes into account the effective surfaces of the poppet and the configurations of the walls when deformed. In particular embodiments, bias on the poppet is obtained by the application of the magnetic potential of a permanent magnet operatively associated with an armature extension of the poppet outside the chamber. The permanent magnet biases the poppet to its seat and a coil is disposed on the armature to oppose the permanent magnet potential whereby the deformed chamber walls, acting as springs, urge the poppet to an open position.
