    摘要: A sensor assembly for determining an amount of wear on a brake pad in a disc brake includes a shaft extender having a first end coupled to one end of a shaft of an adjustment mechanism of a caliper of the disc brake for rotation with the shaft about a rotational axis and a second end defining a shaft extension. A sensor generates a signal indicative of a degree of rotation of the shaft extension with the signal indicative of the amount of wear on the brake pad. The sensor includes a body coupled to the shaft extension and configured for rotation about an offset axis offset from the rotational axis in response to rotation of the shaft extension about the rotational axis and a measurement device configured to generate the signal responsive to rotation of the body about the offset axis. A housing encloses the sensor.

    摘要: The rotor of an electric motor unit has a web portion partially enclosing the remainder of the unit and terminating in a circumferentially extending rim. The brake drum defines an engagement surface for drum brake linings, and has an outboard end defining a flange securable to the wheel hub. The brake drum also includes an open inboard end, partly covered over by a dust guard, and a circumferential wall extending between the outboard and inboard ends and surrounding the engagement surface. By way of keys and slots or recesses, a reinforcing ring interlocks the circumferentially extending rim of the web portion and the circumferential brake drum wall. The reinforcing ring is secured to the circumferentially extending rim and to the wall of the brake drum at a location disposed axially between the rim of the web portion and the brake drum lining engagement surface.

    摘要: An arrangement and method for mounting a brake disc to on axle hub of a vehicle is provided. The arrangement includes wedge-shaped holes at an radially inner region of the brake disc, corresponding wedge-shaped key inserts, a retaining device such as a retaining ring, and mounting devices such as bolts or studs and nuts that pass through the retaining ring and keys to bias the keys against the axle hub. The circumferential sides of the wedge shapes are aligned with radial lines extending from the rotation axis of the axle hub. This arrangement and method provides a simple, robust and easily installed brake disc mounting that minimizes heat transfer between the brake disc and the axle hub and accommodates thermal expansion of the brake disc and the axle hull to minimize thermal ex pans ion-induced stresses to the brake disc.

    摘要: A brake assembly apparatus is provided for a vehicle braking system. The brake assembly apparatus comprises a vibration damping sleeve for damping vibration between a first braking component and a second braking component. The sleeve includes (i) a first set of spring elements projecting toward a circumferential surface of the first braking component and tuned with a first preload against the circumferential surface of the first braking component, and (ii) a second set of spring elements projecting toward a circumferential surface of the second braking component and tuned with a second preload against the circumferential surface of the second braking component. The first and second sets of spring elements cooperate to damp vibration of certain frequencies between the first and second braking components based upon the first and second preloads.

    摘要: A brake actuator comprises a housing having an end wall and a pushrod projecting through an opening in the end wall and terminating at a movable plate in the housing. A spring is enclosed in the housing and surrounds the pushrod. At least one unitary resilient member is disposed on the push rod proximate to the end wall and partially extends through the opening for centering the spring around an axis of the pushrod and restricting contamination into the housing. The unitary resilient member comprises a central aperture and an annular flange surrounding the central aperture. At least one section of a collar radially outward from the annular flange has a thickness less than half of the annular flange thickness for constraining movement of the spring and the push rod in a radial direction.

    摘要: A drum brake assembly includes a brake spider having a central aperture configured to receive an axle extending therethrough and first and second brake shoes. Each of the first and second brakes shoes has a first end pivotally coupled to the brake spider. First and second cam followers are disposed at corresponding second ends of the first and second brake shoes. A camshaft has a shaft extending through a camshaft aperture in the brake spider and disposed along a rotational axis and a cam disposed at a first end of the shaft and in engagement with the first and second cam followers. An electric motor has an output shaft coupled to the camshaft. A controller is configured to drive the electric motor to cause rotation of the camshaft and move the first and second brake shoes between positions of engagement and disengagement with an associated braking surface.
