Abstract:
The present invention provides multistage aqueous polymer dispersions which are film-forming at low temperatures, exhibit good blocking resistance in a formulation, even at elevated temperatures, display low foam propensity, and possess good wet adhesion and shelf life, processes for their preparation, and the use thereof as binders for coating substrates.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new process for preparing polyurethane-polyacrylate hybrid dispersions, and to the resulting dispersions and their use.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for improving the storage stability of aqueous composite-particle dispersions and of aqueous formulations comprising them.
Abstract:
Coating compositions containing an aqueous polymer dispersion having improved resistance toward chemicals. The aqueous polymer dispersion is prepared by polymerizing a first composition containing at least one ethylenically unsaturated group (monomers) by radical aqueous emulsion polymerization and then, in the presence of a product mixture from the previous polymerization, polymerizing a second composition containing at least one ethylenically unsaturated group (monomers) by radical aqueous emulsion polymerization. The coating compositions are such that the difference between a glass transition temperature of a polymer prepared from the first polymerization and a glass transition temperature of a polymer prepared from the second polymerization is at least 50° C.

The present invention relates to a coating material in the form of an aqueous composition comprising: 25% to 55% by weight of composite particles having an average particle size of 50 to 350 nm, in the form of an aqueous dispersion, which are constructed of 20% to 60% by weight, based on the composite particle, of inorganic solid having an average particle size of 5 to 100 nm, 40% to 80% by weight, based on the composite particle, of a polymer matrix having a T9 in the range from −60 to +40° C. and obtainable by free-radical emulsion polymerization of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and 20% to 50% by weight of fillers, with 5% to 40% by weight, based on the total solids content, being selected from aluminum silicates, borosilicate glasses, polymethyl methacrylate particles, and polystyrene particles, 1% to 30% by weight of pigments, and 0% to 5% by weight of one or more thickeners 0.1% to 20% by weight of other auxiliaries based in each case on the total solids content, and also to the use thereof for coating surfaces, objects and substrates in permanent water contact, more particularly with swimming pool water.
