摘要: A transparent color sample stain matching device for comparing the appearance that coating or stain would have on a base material to previously coated or stained portions of the base material and a method for generating a transparent color sample stain matching device is described. The stain matching device includes a clear substrate sheet, a pressure sensitive adhesive, and a transparent coating. The transparent coating may include a base liquid and a color additive. The stain matching device is configured such that optical properties of the stain matching device applied to an uncoated portion of the base material are within a predetermined range of similarity of optical properties of a coated portion of the base material. In this way, the transparent color sample stain matching device applied to uncoated portions of the base material produces the general appearance of coated portions of the base material.

摘要: A protectant and sealant solution and method of use thereof, configured to protect wood from premature decay when disposed in contact with the earth. The solution is composed of processed hemp oil which is mixed with bio-diesel and other oils to form the protectant solution. The wood is then impregnated with the solution via pressure treatment within a retort cylinder. The solution is configured to protect utility poles and other wooden construction members which are known for prolonged contact with soil. The solution is designed as a safe replacement for pentachlorophenol solutions which have been found to be harmful to the soil and water table.

摘要: A kit of parts is provided, comprising: in one part a) a water-borne stain; and, in another part b) a water-immiscible organic solvent-borne stain, wherein said water-borne stain is essentially free of resin and further contains at least one water-miscible organic solvent. Additionally, a method of coloring a wooden substrate is described, comprising the steps of: a) applying a water-borne stain to a surface of the wooden substrate, wherein the water-borne stain is essentially free of resin and comprises at least one water-miscible organic solvent; and thereafter b) applying a water-immiscible organic solvent-borne stain to said surface.

摘要: This invention provides method of treating a surface of exterior wood outside of buildings to inhibit the uptake of moisture into the wood by spraying on the surface of the wood an aqueous formulation consisting of one or more film forming non-chloride, long-chain polymers. The aqueous formulation forms a clear micro-film. Preferably, the long-chain polymer is polyethylene-vinyl acetate, polyurethane, or a combination thereof, wherein the clear micro-film contains no detectable volatile organic compounds. A clear colorant is added to the aqueous formulation to verify treatment. The clear colored micro-film maintains moisture content in the wood at 16 percent or less, allows for continued visual inspection of the surface of the wood for termite damage, does not rub off, get diluted with water, or become damaged by workers and pets who come into contact with the clear colored microfilm.

摘要: A method of treating wood with an organic phosphonate salt in a liquid phase to chemically modify its surface and thus provide protection from microorganisms. The organic phosphonate salts are of Formula III wherein R1 is a hydrogen radical or an alkyl or aryl radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and R2 is a cation selected from the group of NH4+, H+, Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, Cs+, Fr+, Cu+, Ag+, substituted or unsubstituted ammonium, phosphonium, and sulfonium, methylpyrrolidinium, isothiazolium, isoxazolium, oxazolium, pyrrolium, thiophenium, pyridinium, pyridazinium, pyrimidinium, pyrazinium, imidazolium, pyrazolium, thiazolium, oxazolium, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium, and triazolium, or a mixture thereof, said method preferably comprising using one or more salt compounds having formula III. Products comprising a raw material having been treated according to the method with one or more organic salts of formula III are also disclosed.

摘要: A process is provided for treating wood products including lumber, plywood and other engineered wood products comprising the steps of applying an aqueous fire-retardant impregnate and applying a coating to the surface of the wood product. In one embodiment, said process confers fire-retardant properties to the wood products sufficient to pass the extended burn test of ASTM E-84. The present invention also provides fire retardant wood products.

摘要: A process for staining wood, preferably unfinished wood, and/or wood articles from which the finish has been removed, with a stain (oil or water based) containing a plurality of fluorescent dyes and/or pigment, by treating the wood with a bleach to substantially reduce the contrast between the heartwood and sapwood features of the wood grain thereof to the desired degree, and staining the bleached wood with a stain formulation containing a plurality of fluorescent dye or pigment, wherein each fluorescent dye or pigment are absorbed into the wood and produce a uniquely colored stained wood product. The staining process can be repeated, as desired, to attain the stained wood object having a distinctive wood product, in visible light, and a distinctive wood product having a, fluorescent monochromatic appearance, in the absence of visible light. In each instance the color of the stain shall appear in varying intensity depending upon the uptake thereof in the heartwood or the sapwood.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for producing an anticorrosion coating, wherein (1) an anticorrosion primer comprising (A) at least one organic resin as binder and (B) at least one synthetic layered double hydroxide comprising organic anions is applied directly to a metallic substrate and (2) a polymer film is formed from the anticorrosion primer applied in stage (1), the method being characterized in that the at least one synthetic layered double hydroxide (B) comprises at least one organic anion of the following formula (I): where R1═COO−, SO3−, R2/R3═NH2, OH, H. The present invention relates, furthermore, to coated metallic substrates coated by the method of the invention. The present invention relates not least to the use of the anticorrosion primer for use in the method of the invention for improving the corrosion resistance of metallic substrates.
