    摘要： A two-part fastener for use in septoplasty procedures includes a fastener portion having a base with shaft extending perpendicularly therefrom and a retainer having an aperture for engagement with the shaft. The fastener may include indexing means for positioning the retainer in engagement with the fastener portion at discrete spaced apart locations along the shaft. In another embodiment the shaft is slightly larger in diameter than the aperture in the retainer to effect a frictional engagement. Applicator instruments are also provided. In one embodiment the applicator includes two elongated members pivotally connected in the middle. In another embodiment the applicator includes an elongated body which holds a plurality of septoplasty fasteners. A pivotally connected lower jaw holds a supply of retainers. A pusher member drives the fastener through a curved firing chamber, through body tissue, and into engagement with the retainer.

    摘要： An instrument for cutting body tissue and applying a plurality of two part surgical fasteners to the body tissue on each side of the cut. The instrument includes a U-shaped distal portion, and a body having a longitudinal portion for enclosing an axial drive means for pushing fasteners into position in the body tissue. The axial drive means is off-centered from the fastener pushing means in the fastener cartridge at the U-shaped distal portion. A trigger operated diverter is provided with a unique system of force conversion and transmission for converting a single off-centered axial drive force to a uniformly distributed drive force for pushing the fastener pushers, and the knife assembly.

    摘要： A surgical instrument is provided for use in endoscopic or laparoscopic surgery. The instrument includes a handle portion and an endoscopic portion. The endoscopic portion has an elongated tubular section having opposed proximal and distal ends, the proximal end of which extends from the handle portion, and an articulating section which is pivotally connected to the tubular section adjacent the distal end thereof. Tool means depend from the articulating section and a linkage mechanism is associated with the endoscopic portion for pivoting the articulating section relative to the longitudinal axis of the tubular section, within a 90.degree. sector of rotation. In addition, the instrument includes means for rotating the endoscopic portion about its longitudinal axis.

    摘要： Apparatus is provided for applying a surgical clamp during endoscopic or laparoscopic procedures which includes a handle portion, an endoscopic portion extending longitudinally from the handle portion, and a surgical clamp detachably mounted adjacent a distal end of the endoscopic portion. The surgical clamp includes opposed cooperating jaw members which are movable between an initially closed position and an open position. Structure is associated with the endoscopic portion of the apparatus for detachably engaging the surgical clamp and a mechanism is provided for moving the opposed cooperating jaws between the initially closed position and the open position and for moving the engaging structure between a disengaged position and an engaged position. Preferably, a distal end portion of the endoscopic portion of the apparatus is adapted to articulate relative the longitudinal axis of the endoscopic portion for increasing the range of operability of the apparatus during surgical procedures.
