摘要： An electrical connection device includes a socket connector and at least one plug connector. The socket connector is mounted to a substrate and defines two or more receptacle chambers each selectively mating with a plug connector. Each receptacle chamber has a tongue plate with a plurality of terminals fixed thereon. A resilient arm having a projection at a free end thereof is formed in the receptacle chamber for engaging with a raised section of the corresponding plug connector thereby retaining the plug connector in the receptacle chamber. The plug connector defines a slot for receiving the tongue plate. A plurality of contacts is arranged in the slot for electrically engaging with the terminals fixed to the tongue plate of the corresponding receptacle chamber.

摘要： A card edge connector for receiving and retaining a card edge of a complementary card includes an upper housing and a lower housing each of which defines a central slot therein and the two central slots are in alignment with each other for receiving the card edge of the complementary card. A plurality of contacts each of which includes an upper portion and a lower portion are received in the upper and lower housings so that the upper portion of each contact is slidably received in the upper housing and the lower portion of each contact is fixed in the lower housing. A lever mechanism is pivotally engaged with the lower housing and firmly engaged with the upper housing so that when the lever mechanism is operated to raise the upper housing apart from the lower housing a predetermined distance, the card edge of the complementary card can be inserted into the aligned slots of the two housings with a substantially zero insertion force, and when the lever mechanism is operated to lower the upper housing to contact the lower housing, the upper portions of the contacts will abut against the card edge of the complementary card.

The second rail guide includes two opposite retention members 42. Both the first and second rail guides are removable from the housing and adjustable in size and material to accommodate different daughter boards. A daughter board inserted into the housing is properly retained by the first and second rail guide in lateral and distal directions thereby preventing deformation of a middle portion of the daughter board.

摘要： A card edge connector assembly comprises an elongate housing mounted on a mother board, and a switch key for engaging with the housing and activating inner circuitry formed in the mother board. The housing comprises an elongate slot formed between opposite side walls thereof for receiving a daughter board, a plurality of receiving passageways defined in each side wall for retaining contacts therein, a pair of cutouts transversely defined in a mating face of the housing, and a projection transversely formed between the side walls. The daughter board defines a pair of notches corresponding to one of the cutouts and the projection of the card edge connector. The switch key can transmit information to the mother board by electrical contact between a conductive membrane disposed on the switch key and the corresponding contacts received in the passageways below the corresponding cutout of the housing. Thus, a daughter board having a certain operational voltage can be properly inserted into the slot of the card edge connector. The switch key may also transmit information to the mother board by separating an engagement between the contacts received in the passageways below the corresponding cutout of the housing.

The insertion of the switch key into the slot changes the spatial relationship between a pair of pins thereby transmitting a signal to the mother board for selecting the electrical voltage supplied to the connector corresponding to the configuration of the connector.

The housing defines a card receiving slot and a number of contact receiving cavities. The first and second contacts have spring portions including individual contacting portions that are located at different levels from a top face of the housing and are spaced a height which is greater than a vertical length of a tapered front edge of a daughter card mated with the connector. The spring portion of the second contact forms an S-shaped portion having a lower turning point spaced from a retention portion of the second contact a distance less than the vertical length of a free end of the second contact above a bottom face of the prestress portion that the free end of the second contact bears against. The S-shaped portion adjusts the length of the spring portion of the second contact when the daughter card is inserted into the housing and therefore prevents the second contact from buckling during insertion of the daughter card into the card receiving slot.
